I was just upgraded to Sapphire status. I noticed the card has an expiration date on it. Does anyone know why this card has an expiration date? My Ruby card never did.

Ruby may not have an expiration date because all players qualify for Ruby status. Your Sapphire card has an expiration date (usually 12 months after obtaining Sapphire status) because you have to maintain at least 25,000 points in a year to achieve Sapphire. Provided that you earn at least another 25,000 points in the next 12 months, you'll be able to maintain Sapphire status and will be issued another Sapphire card when your current Sapphire card expires. If you do not earn at least 25,000 points in the next 12 months, you'll move back down to Ruby.

Thank you, with only a few trips per year I doubt I can maintain Sapphire status. But will enjoy the 2x points until then.
