    I called last Friday.
Phone jockey told me "We can get a guy there today."
    "okay...fine.....even on a Friday late afternoon ?"
    "Yes, sir !"
    *
Phone jockey calls my wife later --
    "Can't make it today...sorry."
    *
I just called now ( Thrs am )
They said "Sorry...we'll DEFINITELY have a guy there Friday late afternoon."
    I said "I've done contracting + i've worked years around contractors......I doubt
you're gonna sub -out to a guy on late friday."
    They promised.
I said "This was the problem from last week."
    They promised.

Last time i used a different company to spray for wasps.
I didn't particularly like their effort.
( I helped a tiny guy w/ the extention ladder so he would destroy my stucco ---
he was useless --- I called the Co. and said "I need two BIG guys to move your ladder )
The Co. came out 3 times -- so I switched to Orkin )
    *
So far, I'm not lucky with these pest companies.
    *
Frickin' wasps are HUGE + NASTY tempered.
My wife pulled two off my 2 yr old's clothing ( indoors ).
    *
I'll post about what happens tomorrow.

Those $2 cans of wasp killer at the store shoot a stream like 20 ft.

    i've used those...supposed....20ft spray cans.
Most the time the can sprays almost 20 ft -- then, sputters out to about 5ft.
Then, is almost useless cos it's clogged.
And forget trying to use it upside down.

    A couple years ago --
The hardware stores had a great wasp can sprayer ( 15 ft job ) ---
but those are nowhere to be found, nowadays
    *
    And lastly -
liquid from a can doesn't last very long as a deterrent.
The liquid dries and the wasps just return unless you've hit the entire (exposed ) nest.
My nests are inside siding, stucco, etc.
    *
I told the pest co.'s "I want powder - not liquid."

Guess what? If they sub it like you say, they will use the spray can. I spent 35 years dealing with similar shit while being a GS (Government Slave). Every white hair on my head I can thank sub-contractors for. They can even use "spray can on a long stick".

We sell a brand to the guys who work on lighted signs that they swear by. It is made by CRC part number 14010 that kills on contact. You can actually see them drop out of the air when you hit them. The rep says its because aside from the poison it has a Dielectric Strength of 47.6KV which short circuits whatever keeps them alive.

Usually the person handling the phone is a relative or some degenerate they can get away with paying less than min wage.
Unfortunately what you are experience is pretty much par for the course.
Thanks for the link to the spray as we found a couple in the house and no idea where they are coming from.

Just had a headache dealing with an exterminator for some wasps as well. My mother had a wasp's nest growing between some windows at her house, in this wide window box type of thing. I called an exterminator a couple of weekends ago, he came by and told me its a small job and for $100 he'd kill the wasps and remove the nest. Deal. He killed the wasps and since the nest was sitting in gas he said he would come by later in the week to pull it out and no one needed to be home for him to do that. Fine. He never showed up again and I left him a couple messages on his cell.

Then today I called his head office and the owner of his company started suggesting I should just remove the nest myself since all the wasps are dead and that normally they charge at least $200 for any site visit and his guy shouldn't have quoted me $100, etc etc. I told him that wasn't my concern, we have a signed agreement for him to kill the wasps and remove the nest, and I paid him exactly what he quoted me. He tried to argue his case for a minute but I wasn't having it and he backed off and said the guy would finish it today. I heard he did come and and take it away so that nasty nest is finally gone. But I couldn't believe how casually the owner of this little company thought he could disregard the terms of the contract we had.

I have the termite guy coming between 8-10 am thursday for the annual inspection. I deal with a large company who has trucks in my community all day so they ususlly show up when they're supposed to.
The guy I would never hire is this one man operation who is what I call a "self promoter". He goes around telling everybody how bad the big outfit is and how wonderfull he is, If he was half as good as he claims ,you'd have a tough time getting him. This development is a big termite buffet.

About a half hour before the Orkin exterminator was to show up --
I went out and mowed my lawn.
I use a push blade ( no motor ) mower.
I was knocking against the second floor deck posts.
Trying to get as close to the posts as possible.
And all of the sudden -
I'm being attacked by bees -- got stung a bunch of times in the head.
There was a HUGE paper nest hangin' under the deck floor ( above my head ).
I never saw the nest before - don't know how long it's been there ?
Good thing no one has been out on the deck or they would have been stung.
First thing the exterminator sprayed was that nest !
Those bees were agressive - because it was just vibrations from my hitting the deck post
that set them off --- I wasn't right next to them -- maybe 6 ft away ?
All the stings were on my head.

If it was a paper nest, then most likely mud wasps. They build the type that hang down or even build vertical tunnels. Nasty guys if they get riled up.

Good thing you're not one of those people who are highly allergic to stings. Is it legal to possess a flame thrower in your state?

There's some foaming wasp/yellow jacket spray available out there that is awesome! You can stand about 10 feet away and spray and it immediately foams up around the nest so the little devils can't fly away. I can't remember the brand, but I know the can when I see it. Anyways, I used to get it at Home Depot and Lowes, but my local stores don't have it anymore. I don't know why, cause it's the best. I am out, though, and really need to get some because those little buggers are getting really busy---that time of year and all. I hear Ace Hardware also carries it, though, or at least their own brand of it, so it's on my list of errands. If you can get your hands on it, get a couple of cans because everyone seems to either sell out quick or stop selling it.
