Heading to Vegas for trip number 5 the second week of December - got a smokin' package deal on SellOff for five nights at Paris and flights. It's -27C here so just the change in weather has me pumped! Never stayed at Paris - last time we stayed DT and it'll be nice to be somewhat central this time.

I am trying to nail down things to do, restaurants to eat at, attractions to see, and this site is an incredible source of information. I'm thinking Rock of Ages, Absinthe....at least one great steak (Hugo's Cellar was terrific), maybe a day at the Hoover (haven't been out there yet), at least one night on Fremont, at least one Hash House cholesterol-fest...

But man - there are SO many options, I find my eyes glazing over and I can't even jot down a note of something that sounds cool. Yet I know that in three weeks I'll be standing on LV Blvd saying "OK....where do you want to go?", and I'd like to have some sort of a plan.

It's a problem, but a good problem. It's fun to wing it, but winging it can cost a lot of $$$ and although I'm not afraid of spending money, I like get the most out of my dollars. I see some folks here planning things out in lots of detail - and some that seem to get off the plane and go for it. Any suggestions for dealing with the option paralysis? Five nights is the longest I've stayed so I feel like I have lots of time.

First - go do the Dam tour, it's a Dam shame you haven't been there! If you rent a car you can go when you want & have it be about 1/2 a day trip. Also you could go see Valley of Fire or something else like that. 5 days is a long trip to me without non-Vegas diversions.

As for advise - I am a planner - I pick the one thing I want to do that day and build around that. For example, last trip one of the things I on the list was to go to the Neon Museum. I tried to build around that but my sister messed up an other plans. If I had been alone or with DH I would have also seen the Mob Museum and hung out DT.

hth Congrats on your "problem"

I am thinking he may be north of me. We just finished a -20 spell here in central B.C.

I'm not too much on planning. It always seems to add stress for me. Trying to be on time or having to quit something I'm enjoying to be somewhere just seems to take some fun out of it.
I make a list of things that I would like to do and hit them up as the opportunity arises. If we have a moment we want something different to do, we head out and do one. If we are strolling through the area where one is we stop and do it. We usually manage to fit in about half the list. Specific shows, casinos or restaurants.
We may make a plan for the next day while we are there, like a damm trip, or a show, but we don't overload our day.
If Im winning big gambling or having a blast on the strip or Fremont, I'm not gonna stop for dinner or show reservations.
