I have come across some pretty good deals for Days Inn Wild Wild West and also the Super 8 by the Strip. Does anyone have any opinion on either one of these properties? It will just be my friend and I for a Sunday thru Thursday trip....

Clearly neither of these are good properties, but both bearable. My vote is a very solid Wild Wild West. They work in odd fees off and on but you get a dennys breakfast and access to a casino on property (albeit a divey one).

I have stayed at Days Inn @ Wild Wild West. Place was cheap, but a decent hotel. I slept very good, place was quiet- rooms are in the back, off the street. Beds were comfortable. I got a coupon for free breakfasts for two at the Dennys inside. They charge a little more for the drinks (OJ, Milk, etc) in the Dennys, but I think that is to make up for giving away free meals. The casino is a pit, very smokey inside.

I'd take my chances with the Super 8. That's the location of the much discussed Ellis Island Casino. You'll be walking distance from the Strip. The hotel claims to have remodeled in 2011. If you go with Wild Wild West you also get a casino, but I've never heard anyone rave about it. The only things close by will be an adult store, a "gentleman's" club, and the Orleans.

I have been in the Wild Wild West Casino and it is dumpy, smoky, bearable, and local as hell. Really felt obligated to introduce myself when I found a tight seat at the bar. My brother stayed there once and had a bad encounter on one of the caged sidewalks between there and the strip. Not knowing the rooms on either establishment, I can still say that every step from Ellis Island towards the strip improves your situation.
