Planning to stay at Venetian or Palazzo last week of August. I usually stay at Caesar's Palace (Augusta Towers) but want to try someplace else. I love the kitschy part of Vegas so the new all-modern uber hip hotels are not exactly my style. I've never stayed there and would love to get opinion on these two properties. Any tip or information would be helpful. Thank you!

I prefer staying at Palazzo. It’s a little newer, so the rooms will show a little less wear. And it’s smaller and easier to navigate. It also seems to be much less crowded usually.

However, if you’re a fan of the kitschy side of Vegas, you might like Venetian better. It is definitely the more themed of the two – both in the casino/shopping areas and in the rooms. I doubt you’d care for the Palazzo room décor. It’s pretty “generic contemporary” – nice, but probably not your style.

I'm was in the same situation as you(normal caesars guy, deciding on palazzo or venetian) staying next week so I can give you a full report. I have decided to stay at the venetian. Little closer to center strip(less of a walk) and I got more bang for my buck by choosing venetian

Thanks so much! Did you like your stay at the Palazzo? or would you rather stay somewhere else? It seems the two properties are not as popular among the member here since I don't read much posts about them.

That's great! Can't wait to hear your full report! I don't know why but Caesars used to have great deals but not so much anymore. And the resort fees are just annoying. I heard the Venetian and the Palazzo let you waive the resort fee which is bonus points for me just on principle. Have a fun trip and can't wait to hear your report!

I’m a big Wynn/Encore fan. And fortunately, I’ve been getting pretty good comps there lately. So, I haven’t really found any reason to go elsewhere. However, Palazzo would be my next choice after those two, no question. I enjoy the casino (though I think many might consider it boring). And between the two properties, there are some great restaurants at pretty much every price point. Plus, the rooms (at both properties) are huge – I like having that sitting area. It’s nice to be able to have a snack and watch a little TV without having to do it in your bed.

Hitting up a restaurant at V/P or the BJ tables at Palazzo is pretty much a given for me every time I stay next door at Wynncore.

I prefer Palazzo, although accommodations are essentially the same in both. If you choose Palazzo, ask for a high floor on the end with view of Wynn's golf course. Not everybody knows about it so it might be yours for the asking. The end of the hall is a bit of a walk from the elevators.

If you drive, Palazzo is more desirable because Palazzo's parking is much easier and far less of a walk.

If you decide on Venetian, avoid the Venezia Tower unless you want to feel like a rat in a maze.

I am a Palazzo fan. I have stayed at a number of strip hotels, including Wynn & Aria (but not Caesar's due to it's size) and I prefer Palazzo or Venetian over all of them. I prefer Palazzo to Venetian for the same reasons as thecarve. I also agree that you would likely prefer the venetian as far as decor and theming.

Some things I like about the entire complex are the number of dining options ranging from inexpensive right up through very fine dining with everything in between. I enjoy the places in St Mark's Square for ambiance and casual dining. There are also a number of places you can get great food to take back to the room to enjoy the views, and room service is also decent.

If you like shows, Human Nature is housed there, and they seem to have plenty of other shows come and go. The gaming is good, drink service & quality are very good and the overall feeling of the place makes me happy.

One reason you don't hear too much about Venetian/Palazzo on this board is because a few years ago they made a change to the way they were doing comps, and they did it a very heavy handed manner that quite screwed over a number of their loyal players. Since then, they have gone back to being quite generous, at least as far as I am concerned. But many people on this board have moved on and don't patronize them any longer.

Totally agree with all this, too. I love that golf course view and prefer it to the Strip View.

Like thecarve, we are Wynncore people, and prefer Palazzo to Venetian. Both are nice, but the atmosphere is a little better at Palazzo.

I love Palazzo and its casino. I'd stay there more often if the comp days available lined up with my schedule better.

The standard rooms at Venetian and Palazzo are pretty much exactly the same layout. I've stayed at Palazzo several time and Venetian once, and the stay at Venetian confirmed that I like Palazzo better, these are the reasons; just personal preference:

    • The Palazzo casino has higher ceilings and better lighting.
    • Venetian is full of faux-Italianate decor, which I just don't dig. Palazzo is sleeker and more neutral.
    • The divider between the bedroom area and the living room area at Venetian is an iron grate/railing. At Palazzo, it's a long, wide, fake granite countertop, which is great for putting stuff on.
    • The TV across from the bed at Palazzo is bigger.

I agree that Venetian/Palazzo suffered a hit on various boards when they gutted the video poker and stopped giving easy comps. Even though we will not stay with them because of these two changes, I still have fond memories of both places.

I have stayed at both twice. For my money there is a very distinct different feel between the two. The V is much more lively while the P seems more sedate. The rooms are similar so I prefer to stay at the P and hang out at the V. The last factor to consider is that the Venezia tower is terrible and I would not stay there. I am always a casino giest so I do not worry about getting stuck ther, however if you are going through a third party booking, like Travelocity, I would say the P no doubt.

Thanks so so so much for everyone's tips and recommendations. It has been most helpful and I am so glad to have found and joined this message board. Best ever! My boyfriend and I are not high rollers so we don't expect to get comped for anything. But the tips are very helpful and eye opening. I don't mind paying a little bit more for a nice hotel room. Anywhere else in the country you would end up paying twice as much for a comparable room. We just love going to Vegas and having a good time because there is so much to do and enjoy. But having a whole community that is so knowledgeable is an added bonus planning this trip.

I've stayed at Palazzo 3 times, and I love the rooms because they are so big & comfortable. The bathrooms are huge too, the level of service is great. I just can never win a damn thing in that casino!

I've never stayed at Venetian but I have stayed at Palazzo twice. For some reason they continue to give me free 3-4 night room stays even though I certainly have never deserved or earned it. I love the Palazzo. The only other place I have stayed that I liked a tiny bit more was Encore.

I would also recommend higher up on the golf course side. That's where our room location was both times. I have heard complaints about the club music reaching high up to your room but that was not our experience in this location.

I can't imagine someone being very disappointed with this hotel.

just stayed at palazzo over the weakend overall great place to stay my only complaints were the pools we didnt check out the venetian pool we stayed at palazzo they were small to me and there pool party called azure was tiny it was like being in a tub with a dj lol. they kept telling us to stay on the ledge with our drinks we couldn't be like 5 steps away without them complaining to us. But the rooms were great had the view of the wynn and golf course great view and all of the staff were very helpful
