    Sunday the 21st
    I STUNK IT UP !!!
    I shot a miserable 97 ! :vomit:
    Blow up holes everywhere.....it wasn't much fun.:grrr:

    Yesterday,
    I'm playing as a twosome --
we're behind the very fast first group ( of four ).
    We never waited.
    But......
    The first hole......and I double bogey.:nono:
And I'm thinking "Here, we go again....another crappy round."
    I am NOT happy.
So, I stop thinking about my score --
and my partner + I have lotsa gab going between us.
I finish the front nine and
tell my partner "I had a pretty good first nine !"
( I never total my score, until it's over )
    I par the tough 10th hole !
    "I'm havin' a good day - paring the 10th." I said. :nworthy:
( Screw The Jinx ! )....there, I said it out loud.

I tied my record best from 3 seasons ago !
    8 pars + 1 birdie.
I shot 82........w/ two chip shots that hit the hole and lipped out.:evillaugh
Once, again, I laminated the scorecard !

From 97 to 82........golf is a crazy game for this high handicapper !:evillaugh

Maybe, I'll break 100 next week ?

I have no problem shooting a 97, it's the 82 that is the problem. Nice going Joe!

Such is the volatile reality of being a mid-'capper.

I empathize. I have a drawer full of scorecards with day-to-the-next variations of 105 and 81, or in-round beauts like 60-40 or 38-51.

It's the basic reason why despite all the advances in equipment the past 20 years the average avid golfer essentially sucks and hasn't improved to any measurable degree.

I know the feeling. Played yesterday and doubled all four par 3's, not to mention two blowup hole triple bogies. The 82 is a great score for a high handicapper though. I think my best round is an 85 as an 18 handicapper.

Like most high handicappers, I will hit some good shots and have some good holes, but I three-putt way too much and usually have one or two blowup holes every round.

    It's a brutal game.

I don't necessarily think 18 is "high." I mean, numerically on the scale it is up there, but since the average recreational male golfer cannot break 100, if playing by the rules, that to me is a number that is pretty much John Q Normal.

And you hit on it. It's the inevitable others. I talked a bit about it on another thread here. I get a lot more pars these days, seldom go a round without at least one birdie, I can stripe a ball for a fat, middle-aged guy, and even move it both ways ... except for when "I" show up. It's easy to drop 4-8 unnecessarily to a lax short game and toss in the several times players of my/our abilities go yard, and well, while we have more tactical victories the strategic win evades us.

As a noted instructor once said to me, "You're an amazing athlete to even score as you do with that swing."

    Muscle memory, baby. lol

We play two rounds every Wednesday. Two weeks ago one of the guys, who is probably about a 10 or 11, shot a 75 the first round, then a 94 the second round. He normally only breaks 80 every 12th round or so, and hardly ever shoots higher than 90. It was an unusual day for him to say the least.

Funny, your 15 shot spread is the exact same as my last two rounds.....89 followed by a 104 a few days later. I would just like to consistently be able to break 90, but everytime I string together a few good rounds and think I am on the verge of a breakthrough, I'm back up over 100 the next time out!

Its all relative. I shot 82 Sunday and was pissed. Probably because I shot 75 with 5 birdies on Friday.

I'm feeling good when I shoot 75. But that score will piss off many, many people.

    Funny game.
Makes me think of Tiger Woods being interviewed after shooting 62. He was pissed. "That putt on 13 should have dropped."

lol, I thought that summed up golf perfectly.
