Check you offers - mlife, TR etc frequently. I just got a comparable deal changing my reservation from Luxor to MGM.

My husband and I have an unexpected trip in August. Our only child was to attend the Black Hat techno/nerd convention in August. He had never been to Vegas and my DIL can't attend. He did not want to be out there by himself, so we changed our Ruidoso vacation plans. His bank was putting him up at MB and we had a pretty good offer from Luxor (good for us), and we would be right next door. #1 and only son assured us that he was 100% going -- I tried to warn my husband that something smelled rotten in Denmark. I had a feeling our son would find a way to back out - even though the bank was footing his bill. I love Vegas but in the summer I would rather trade my 101 degree humid heat for 70 degree cool mountain air. Not 110 degree "dry" heat. I was right - #1 and only backed out. I could cancel everything and be out no money -- but I had bought 2 tickets to Carrot Top - not refundable. - Two tickets not three - hence a mother's intuition is always right. So we decided it would be a hard go of it but we were going back to Vegas for the "dry" heat.

Now we could stay where we wanted but everything was so expensive compared to the Luxor, 8/1-8/6 - 8/1 being Saturday. Luxor - 8/1 was $110, then $35,$35, $45 and one night was comped. I am not picky I really just need a clean quiet room. Luxor is at the bottom end where I will stay. MGM is really where we love to stay and is our go to resort. I checked both our offers and nothing was even close to the Luxor. Today I checked and I had an offer for MGM 8/1 $149 but all 4 other nights $39 a night, + resort fees and I got a $50 resort credit. All in all the MGM was only $30 more total. when you consider the resort credit. Plus this was for a Grand King room - the West Wing rooms were actually more -- I didn't get that one since the Grand Kings are the better rooms.

I learned about checking your offers frequently. This offer just appeared in my mlife offers today and it expires on 5/3 so it only gave me three days to book it. Now if Southwest will just come down on their fares -- although I feel I won't be holding my breath on that one.

I check my offers every single day. Literally the first thing I do when I wake up every morning is 1. My daily myvegas spin 2. my social rewards offers 3. check my TR account for offers. You never know what's going to show up. Even though I'm booked right now for July (and I wouldn't switch hotels), the freeplay or freebies in general are always changing offer to offer. Sometimes higher, sometimes lower.
