My wife and I always stay on the strip. We sometimes rent a car for a day to see the off strip sites(Red Rock, HDamn, VofF). If we have time, we would like to see an off strip casino we have not seen yet. We've been to the Rio, Palms, HR, downtown and others.
Two places we have not seen is the South Point and M Resort. Which place is better to visit for a few hours as far as sights, decor, gambling and dining. Thanks for your input.

With a car, obviously you can visit both in a day. M is 3 miles south of South Point on LV Blvd.

M is a much nicer property but there's more to do at SP (movies, bowling, more restaurants). M is on a par with Red Rock/GVR, SP more like Orleans but a little nicer.

Myself, I'm all over the M. I'll be staying there for the eighth time in November (and they've only been open 3 years). Definitely stop by there and get a player's card and you'll get some decent mailers. Free buffets (keep your points!) are pretty easy to come by for a dollar VP player.

It really depends on what you want to get out of it. I would say go to The M Resort. It is newer, has a great selection of beers on tap, and if you don't like it you can always hit South Point on the way back in.

M is my favorite casino. So that is my suggestion as well.

South Point can be reached via 117 out of SSTT. M is on no bus line, however a taxi from SP to M and back should not be more than $30 total.

If you'll have a car, check out m resort for sure.

Good video poker bars, restaurants and the buffet are pretty tasty, and the staff there was very friendly when I was there this past week.

M resort has better food, drink, and ambience. South point might have better video poker. I would hit M for the day/evening, then stop by South Point on the way back just to see it. In general I find South Point to be a good place to get in a few last minute hands of vp on the way back to the car rental center, but there is nothing (other than a dirt cheap room rate) that would make me go out of my way to get there any other time.

M resort for sure. I was not all that excited by SP. We have stayed at M several times. It's a beautiful property and the staff are all very friendly.

It would be easy to see both but...MResort, their buffet, should win most of your time.

Good for you! Have a great time and even better luck.

We've decided on visiting there for our anniversary in a couple of weeks.

The Sports book there is awesome for NFL Sundays -- not that I recommend that for your anniversary -- but I've killed entire days there drinking comped beer from 32 degrees and watching the big screens. You'd need to go down around 9 AM to get a good seat.
