    My Trip Report

One day trip report to Reno and Lake Tahoe 8/23/2015

Broke the "non-hand pay" streak, but there's no picture because . . .

My luck was so bad the first day that I left my phone in the room, being convinced that there would be nothing to take a picture of.

My plan was to put in two 1000TC days, which would leave me with one 2500TC day, and Seven Stars would be over and done with. As the saying goes . . "the best laid plans . . "

So, my day started out in Reno, where I went to pay down markers from my last trip, use some free play, and collect gift cards (a promotion currently running). I had an hour to kill, and I racked up almost 800TC., but it cost me almost a day's budget.

No problem, I only had 200TC to rack up in Lake Tahoe.

Drove down to Tahoe in 45 minutes, staying at Harvey's a king room in the Lake Tower. After I checked in, I was done at the 1000TC level in 20 minutes.

So, I'm technically "done" for the day (1000TC), except I didn't really consider myself "done" at 3PM on the first day, so I modified my strategy to go for 2500TC and 1000TC on Sunday.

Visited both of the Diamond Lounges at Harvey's and Harrah's. They were only serving chips at Harvey's, they were serving soup and salad at Harrahs. It tied me over until dinner.

So, as normal, past performance is no indication of future results.

So, I was up and down, and up and down. I ended the day down a day's budget (even at Lake Tahoe) , but I made my 2500TC day. Time for dinner and bed. Still no hand pays. Went to the buffet at Harrahs on the 18th floor. Used Diamond privileges to cut around about 30 people. Had Prime Rib and crab with rice and vegetables. Not a bad meal, considering I wasn't in the mood for a sit down expensive meal.

Went back to the room to decide what my next action would be. Decided against going out since I was "down" a day's gambling budget. Went to bed about 10:30PM.

Woke up at 2:30AM and started downstairs. My plan was to go to CVS and get some snacks, but I ended up playing (yes, I violated a prime rule about exceeding 1000TC or 2500TC. And, I dropped some more money, money that was intended to fund the 1000TC day Sunday.

Oh what the heck. So, I went back upstairs and got to bed at 4:30, and woke up at 7:30AM. Like I said, my luck had been so horrible the last two trips, that I figured that a camera wouldn't be necessary.

So, I wandered between Harvey's and Harrahs, and finally I sat down to a .01 machine, "The Amulet and the Charm". If you play the maximum bet, you get scattered wilds with bonus payouts. Well, I played the maximum bet, and after about 10 spins, I broke to go to the ATM to get "go home money". Went back to the machine and on my third pull, I got 3 bonus wilds with $500 each. That was $1500! and no camera. I will post a picture of the Amulet and Charm machine.

    20150823_Harrahs_LT_1500.jpg

Note that this was taken from High 5 slots, a facebook page, but it's the same machine. Note the three 1000 wild. Mine were three 50000 wild (.01 betting increment)

After getting hand paid, I was back to "even" for Lake Tahoe. I was still about 200TC short, and made those quickly. Off to the room to pack, I was still on schedule to leave on time.

So, I'll know Monday at 4:30PM what my actual TC count is (since promo points are awarded each day at that time. I expect to be about less than 2000TC from Seven Stars. I can knock that out in a day, but may wait until October so I can do my host a favor and visit during Q4.

I will be glad when I finally make Seven Stars. This is too much like "work"!

Wow, great to hear you were able to get a handpay and make back the loss for Lake Tahoe! If it were me I'd have a hard time waiting for q4 with only one play day needed...hehehe....let's see when you go back to get it!

Nice turnaround! On my Feb. 2014 trip, i accidently left my phone behind one afternoon. Easily the best afternoon for the whole trip! Good luck waiting until Q4!

Congrats on the hand pay. I'm really looking forward to your detailed report on what it took to make Seven Stars.

Well, it could be as early as 2 weeks from now. It's only a 4 hour drive and it's on the way (actually half way) to dropping my son off for visitation with his Mom.

Normally, I put him on the train (he's old enough for unaccompanied minor travel) but it would have me $20 (we split the cost on him going up)

And . . . there's free play involved, so it "kinda" cuts the cost.

    Updated:

OK, could be this weekend . . . I sent my host a note asking him if an overnight stay counted for 2 gambling days. I want to get the Seven Stars qualification process started in order to have it when I go to Las Vegas in Q4. One 1000TC day and then come home.

    Things I forgot . . .

Sixt upgraded me to a Mercedes C300 sedan. Three things come to mind immediately:

1)It's nice driving a $40,000 automobile to Reno and Tahoe
2)Fuel economy was tramendous. Almost made it the entire trip (517 mi by Google Maps) on one tank of gas. Had to put in 2 gallons to get me home safely. I took the option to return it empty.
3)It's not so nice worrying about driving a $40,000 car when you haven't taken CDW from the car rental company.

Harrahs Lake Tahoe and Harvey's have many of the newer machines, such as

    Hot Hot 8
    Dragons over Nanjing
    Moby Dick

They probably have them in Reno over at "The Big 3" (Silver Legacy, Eldorado, Circus Circus), but as a CET player, I haven't been over there yet.

Dailun, take a break and seriously worry about your gambling 'addiction' and chasing comps..I love Vegas and gambling but hate to see people deeply addict to it...May be I am overly concerned but just want to point out there...

Why do you keep bringing this up? He's told you before how he budgets his play.

It is his money that clearly he is fine in losing, he didn't ask for this advise so don't harp on him.

Come on, Newmans!! There is a difference between 'budgeted entertainment activity' vs chasing comps and gambling addiction. You know it better!

The frequence Dailun goes to casinos and the way he chases comp point are concerning and that is why I am trying to point out.....Not being mean here but clearly not wise to chase THEO by losing...It is everyone's chooce, but as a fellow VMB, I just hope Dailun plays responsibly and dont get addiction problems like what I used to be...

Not trying to harp on Dailun and in fact I felt sad seeing him dumping his hard earned $$ trying to make the 7*...I just cannot keep silence knowing he is going down the wrong path...Gambling addiction is hard to overcome and clearly a problem...been there and done that myself in the past...

Dailun is an adult and makes his own life choices...I will not say anything further and hope he doesnt make same life mistakes like I did in the past...

You don't know his finances or what he does or doesn't have. He budgets a set amount to take and he plays that, if he loses so be it. Who are you to decide what the right and wrong path are for him or anyone but yourself. I work with people like you that think they need to offer there advice because I go to vegas 3-4 times a year. I have money I budget and save to go to Vegas and spend how I see fit, how I spend my money is of no concern or consequence to you or anyone else for that matter.

    Claire,

I kinda get what you are doing here. But, if you have "experience" in this area you would know that people with problems aren't likely going to need help from someone they don't know or trust. A person doesn't have a problem until they admit to themselves that they do. I've read quite a number of Dai's posts and they have been clearly defined as others have said. But if he wants or needs help, I'm sure he will ask. So, until then, opinions can be thought and shared, but nobody needs to have anything forced on them.

I'm pretty sure(I could be wrong) that you are probably trying to help in your own way. But until someone needs it, you might wanna lay low and have fun reading the posts.

    Mods, mod away!

If Dailun has a gambling problem, then that means I have a serious gambling problem that would require a 12-step squared program. Dailun is far from playing with reckless addiction.

Btw, Dailun, I just made my 7* tonight...well, technically last night. Got 3 handpays between the 2 nights, but sadly my loss exceeds the total handpay wins. I told myself, after this trip, I am taking a break from casinos until my next Vegas trip (most likely for G2E). We'll see if I can stick to my guns...lol.

My point is that you've brought this up before and Dailun responded. Let it go. Like others have said, you have no idea what his personal situation is.

OK, here's my plan going forward.

OK, after a little (or a lot) of thought, I'm not going to (try to) make Seven Stars this weekend:

1)Couldn't get a decent car rental rate
2)The coin show is this weekend Gotta fill in some spots in my collections.
3)The promotions aren't that good this weekend
4)Why (the eff) do I feel I "need" to make Seven Stars as quickly as I can? Besides, Sindustry already made it :nworthy::cry:

The weekend of 9/14/2015 I have:

    1)A $21/day car rental rate
    2)Much better promotions/free play
3)Unfortunately, it's Reno, but I can deal with it for one or two 1000TC day.

Once the Seven Stars process gets rolling, I can take a break until October.

Well, you've convinced me that Tahoe is nicer. My Reno host gets credit for my play at Tahoe, so there won't be any hard feelings. I just need to ramp up the offers at Tahoe.

We'll definitely meet up sometime. I'll PM you with my schedule.
