    Hello all.
we are new to this forum, but not to Vegas. The last time I was there was back in 98 -99 era. The buffets were $5.99 all you could eat. I understand that is no longer available,Is that true? Are there deals to be had? I will keep reading and checking back. We are leaving from Mich to Vegas on Feb 10,staying at treasure Island. We are not much on gambling, but we like the night life, and we are getting married there. Any advice I mean any would be much appreciated. thank you Steve Tami. p.s I will try the $20.00 dollar trick and let you know how it worked.

    Hope this helps.http://govegas.about.com/od/cehapeatinginlv/a/cheapbuffet.htm

Plus, if you are driving, I HIGHLY suggest that you drive over to Palace Station casino which is less than 3 miles away. Breakfast buffet $5.99, Lunch, $6.99 and dinner $7.99. You can't beat the combination of quality and price anywhere in Nevada (IMHO). There's also free shuttle from the Fashion Show mall also (you are next to the fashion show mall when you come out of T. I.. Go left towards Circus Circus.

Oh BTW CONGRATS ON YOUR WEDDING TOO!!!!!!

I promise I"m not trying to be rude at all, but I took a look at your list and it's a little out of date. It still mentions the Plaza buffet downtown, which has been gone for quite some time :) Just a heads up!

As far as cheaper and better buffets, Sams Town is not bad at all. We ate there several times on the last trip. Gold Coast was pretty good too.

I do agree that many of the buffets are pricing themselves out of the market and some are now obscenely high! The tab was over $120 for four of us at the Rio buffet last month! Talk about sticker shock!

Yeah, if you're at the TI, Palace Station would be a good option for old-school pricing. Gold Coast and Palms would be other decent picks.

Boulder Station's buffet is better than Sam's Town. I'm not planning on eating at Sam's again, but will return to Boulder...Gold Coast is decent for breakfast (never tried lunch or dinner there)

I agree with George. We spent 2 weeks in December and ate many buffets at various properties. We liked Sam's Town by far the least.

Station Casino's by and large have a decent buffet, no matter which one of the properties you choose. We always have a rental car, and we tried just about everyone of them.

I'm really curious as to why people think Sams Town buffet is not good?

We've moved quite a bit of our play from the center Strip to Sams Town and had the buffet many times over the last year or so, and in particular this December when Nick said it was not that good. I don't remember a single bad meal and the price is quite decent.

I like the atmosphere of the center Strip better, but I like the machine selection and the prices at Sams Town better.

Everywhere is cheaper than center strip! I think the reason Sam's is low rated is simple - the quality is just not there. Roast beef so tough you couldn't cut it with a steak knife. Fried chicken that sat out for hours and was very dry. Pie that the merangue (sp?) was so bad we couldn't get it off the fork. No ethnic choices that would compare to Panda Express or Taco Bell.

I agree with George and Nick - the Stations put out a much better product (possibly excluding Sunset, where we've been disappointed twice). Their selection may be no larger, but the quality is higher imho.

We still make an occasional visit to the high end places, but agree that they certainly aren't value plays.

Silverton has a decent buffet that doesn't break the bank. Love the fact theres a Bass Pro Shop connected to it.

Number one choice for cheap for me is Gold Coast. Good quality and variety. Take shuttle from Harrah or Ballys to Rio and hop on over to GC.

The last time we ate the Sams town buffet they had steak(sirloin), only thing is that they drowned it in liquid smoke so you thought it was grilled. Horrible, Horrible, Horrible.............

The steak I had at the Sams Town buffet was grilled. Right in plain sight. I asked for one rare and they gave it to me right off the grill.

Now I mean, this was not Delmonicos quality by any means, more like Sizzler quality, but still good.

Sams Town used to have filet mignon, which was actually bacon-wrapped tenderloin tail pieces (think "steaks" about 1 1/4 inches in diameter) but they were tasty. I haven't seen that dish there for several trips now.

Agreed about Boulder Station - it is rarely mentioned and is a solid choice for value, from an old-school perspective.

I love the Gold Coast buffett....excellent food for the price. Good basic food. Not pretentious or will cost an arm & a leg.
