so my buddy was a diamond 3 years ago but still has his card. he soemthime goes to the diamond line without any questions.
my question is do they care if its expired when using it to cut in lines ??
what happen if they notice ur a old diamond (platium now) are they really going to tell you cant help you go to the gold line?

The style/design of the Total rewards cards changed drastically a year or so ago, so I would expect to be questioned if showing an old Diamond card. When I was a Diamond level player, my Diamond card had an expiration date on it, so I would expect that could also cause a problem.

I would hope they would send you back to the Platinum/Gold line. If there are no consequences to such "cheating", there would be nothing to stop people from doing it.

Passing an old card likely can go on for a long time. What incentive is there for a lower pay scale worker to question the intruder?

I had my local casino almost deny me my gift once b/c I was using an expired card (they didn't, but they did check to see if my diamond status was renewed, which it was). I've never had a line checker in Vegas (especially cabs) take more than a second glance.

I tried to use an expired Platinum card to jump the line at the Rio about a year ago and was told I had to either go get a valid card, get in the regular line or pay $5 per person to jump the line. I had a lot of reward credits so I just paid the fee.

Normally you would be fine, but they updated the design of the cards drastically about a year ago. Unless he has one of the new cards that are expired, it will be pretty clear when he shows his card that it's expired.

Since they were updated quite some time ago now, and 99% of players have gotten the updated card, any old design card that is being used for the perks of a higher tier (Plat, Gold, 7 Stars) is automatically going to throw up a red flag and be scrutinized.

You can always try though, the worst thing they can do is take the card and tell you to go back to whatever line you belong in. As long as you don't mind being called out in front of people.
