OK, convince me not to get fished in by CET's Tier Credit promotion

I am mLife Platinum, Grazie Gold, and get comped at the D (downtown) regularly.

I am close to renewing my levels with mLife and V/P this year.

    I see CETs new promotion and I'm trying to resist . . . but . . . .

I'm asking for others on the board to convince (shame) me into NOT trying to level up at CET.

1)I don't like CET casinos, I don't feel "lucky" there (that should be enough in and of itself)

2)I haven't stayed at a CET casino since 2000-2001 when I stayed at Paris to get married (to my now ex-wife)

The only reason I even got points at CET this year is because I ate at the Tilted Kilt on my last trip.

    Thank you for reading this.

I can't. I'm going full force at it I think. My only concern is a bait and switch later in the year to increase tier limits or cut back on benefits...

    1) I get killed in some CET casinos but I do great in others. If I'm having bad luck, I just skip a casino over and try there.

    2) The current diamond benefits really are good along with the comps and promos but I don't have status at the other places outside of some very nice offers from V/P.

I don't think it's something that you get "fished" into. It appears you already have a bias against CET so why are you even thinking of changing ?

Just because it's the best reward program in the industry with casino's all over the country you should just stay with MGM if that is where you feel most comfortable.

I'm sure someday MGM will figure out how to build a website that actually works and allows you to see exactly what rates you'd pay for which casino on an actual calendar. And they probably will install private lounges for top tier players that offer free food & drinks. And special lines so you don't have to wait. And the ability to pay at any restaurant with your points just like using a debit/credit card.

But, since you have better luck at MGM, like I said, I wouldn't even consider switching.

Exactly... and that's OK, a big part of gaming is "feeling" lucky.

A good opportunity is a good opportunity. If you aren't 100% sold on CET, but like the bonus, why don't you play to get it, but ensure you leave enough play to cover reaching your tiers at the other properties? With your hesitation, I just would ensure I wasn't trading off your tried and true programs, just adding an extra one while it's easier to do it! It wouldn't be a bad thing to get your foot in the door at CET again and see if you like it any better now. Your trade off short term will be some less play a less offers from the other properties, but CET will flood your inbox with offers in place of it!

Being a front end comp and Savy Gambler, its not a bad offer.

Where you were earning 1 Total rewards credit for every $5 of coin in on slots, and $10 on VP, your now earning 1.5 total rewards credit for same coin in.
I wonder if you will get the bonus on multiplier days. EG can you earn both multiplier and bonus during same gaming day. Now that would really make it worth while for me personally.

Most likely during my next trip, I will run 8K a day of coin thru, so I will at least carve out a portion of my $1 VP / $1 slot budget to take advantage of this promotion.
The 5x multiplier days are still the better promotion, but this runs a close second for anyone attempting to earn levels for 2016. I would assume they have to honor status for 2016 unless they
create another tier in the TR system below diamond, which would blow.

What are the benefits? I can’t think of a single tier benefit on any card out there that would convince me it was worth playing somewhere I didn’t like. At least not at a level I could attain.

I’m not saying there aren’t benefits that have real value. I’m just saying that none of them are worth me having to gamble and spend time somewhere I don’t like.

I'm on the other side DaiLun,
Head down to Harrahs Rincon and play $50k in a day (get DIAD) and in three months, they'll give you $750 freeplay per week (which you can "bank" and collect as $3000 FSP)
    OR
Head up to Harvey's Lake Tahoe and play $50k in a day (get DIAD) and get some good stuff too...

CET is really great, especially since you're in Nor*Cal, you've got access to Lake Tahoe and Harrahs Rincon in SD...both give GREAT offers...
Give up the rest of the casinos (D, MLife, etc)

This is me to a "T" minus the Grazie card. I am going to get roped in just like you in February. I agree with the assessment of properties. PHO and Caesars are as close as we get to an average MGM prop.
