    My Trip Report

Flew out of Flint MI at 12:30 on Sept 28. This fall trip included wife, Kathy, her sister, Mickey, and myself, John. We are to return Oct 2 so we had a nice 4 night stay, two rooms, comped at Harrah's. I am a platinum Total Rewards card holder so we did not have to pay the resort fees for our rooms. I hate the resort fees as we never use the
extras that, I guess, these fees provide. The SWA direct flights out of Flint are very nice and only one hour from home, much nicer then going to Detroit, which is another hour and more traffic. We paid the extra $25 each for the early boarding both ways so we could have our pick of seats and all sit together. Good flight and arrived a little early.
As this was Sunday I would have thought the cab lines would be short, but not the case. So much for thinking. We still arrived at Harrah's before the 3 PM check in time and was able to obtain two rooms connected for the stay, both Kathy and Mickey wanted the convenience of connecting rooms. Mickey lost her husband, Bill, to cancer last
January and we spent many years going to Vegas as a foursome. Mickey still needs support on her loss of Bill but also needs to just get away now and then. A fun few days in Vegas does help the soul.

After getting the rooms set up for the stay it was off to gaming. Sorry I don't take notes of various hits, or misses, as folks like Buddha do so I just have a general report in this area. I was lucky enough to hit one Royal, $1k, and two quad Aces with the kicker, $500 each along with Kathy also hitting the quad Aces with kicker for her $500 win. As usual, I brought my $2000 win back to the bank and also, as usual, Kathy brought her $500 win back to never be heard from again. I would think, horse shows with our horse and her grand daughter, but there I'm thinking again. Over all Mickey did well, although it is none of my business to what point. I do know on the second day she showed me two $500 chips she wanted to cash from "Let it Ride" game the night before. Judging from her general jovial attitude during the stay I assume she did ok, lol.

A few things I did do this trip that was different then past trips might be of interest. First I did buy tickets from home to Improv to make sure we would go to at least one show. We have been to the Improv many times and it is always fun and this was no different. Buying tickets ahead of time assured us the table we wanted, etc. We could have waited and picked up the 2 for 1 tickets but just not worth the hassle and would not know where our seating would end up. It worked for us. Second, I have been playing the MLife Slots on the computer, never actually paying my money, but slowly collecting points and decided to cash some in. Picked up two three day Tram tickets along with 5 round trip Tram tickets for Mickey and 2 for 1 Buffet coupons at Mirage and Mandalay Bay dinners. Saved a lot on these. The Mandalay Bay is pricey and the last time we went it was worth it but not this time. Small shrimp, not pealed as before, crab legs not pre-cut as before. Don't think we will make the extra effort for their buffet again. Mirage's buffet is one of the better ones and we enjoy buffets over sit down dinners especially with the rising prices for a steak dinner and such. For the prices we can have 10 steak dinners on our grill at home and it is just as good. We can't duplicate the massive buffets at home. Just us as we used to do the sit down dinners several times each trip. Third thing we did this trip that was different is to use the Bell Desk to take our luggage to the airport for us. Only $10 a bag and we didn't need to screw with them to the cab, into the airport for check in, wait in that line, etc., just straight to the gate. Well worth the $10. Over all good trip, not too busy, normal crowds, still didn't get downtown for a couple of years, planning for next one. Sorry for not remembering details. Time goes so fast when we are there. Viva Las Vegas. Luck to all. Next trip in the spring (I might sneak in a solo trip in March). John, Kathy and Mickey in Michigan.

Thanks for the report. I didn't realize that the bell desk would take your luggage to the airport for you. That's why I love trip reports, I seem to learn something new in every one of them.

Is that only at Harrahs that you can have your luggage taken to airport or do most hotels do that? We are staying at T.I. something to think about. Thank you

Don't be sorry about your trip report! I enjoyed it and thank you for taking the time to share your trip with us. Seems like all of you did pretty well at gambling, very happy for you!

Like the above posters mentioned, we learn from each other's experiences and I'm another member that never heard about that bell desk luggage service. Thanks for the info!

Joe are you going to be at MSS thanksgiving weekend? We are also from Wisconsin and usually get the breakfast buffet once a trip. We stay at the T.I. but go downtown on Sunday to watch football. Asked about you last time we were there bartender said you weren't in town. Would like to meet you.

We are also going to fly out of Flint to Vegas in November. We are also about an hour from the Flint airport. We paid the $25 too. What boarding position did you get by letting the system check you in?

Not sure if all or most hotels are set up for the luggage to airport. All these years and just noticed the deal at Harrah's and checked on charge. Found out only $10 a bag and we only had one large 50 lb to drag to/from cab and from cab to check in. For the price it was worth it. Just ask at the bell desk. I stayed at TI last fall and loved it. One of the last hotels that have paying the ridiculous resort fee as an option and not required. Enjoy your stay.

One way we had A 29, 30, 31. Return flight was A 34, 35, 36. It seemed the first 15 to 20 was wheelchairs, and some the additional charge at the gate if you want to pay for it. This still gave us good choices mid plane.

We always stay at T.I. love the place. Come down the elevators and 10 steps into the casino. Always decline the resort fee. Thanks for response.
