I have a trip report posted but wanted to call out something I thought was crazy.

Friday night I was tipping nickels or more and every time I looked up. Boom. Miller Light. Amazing service.

Saturday I was playing black jack at a $25 min table. The good side is some of the same guys were playing from the night before. The bad side was drink service was non existent.

So I decided to comp myself (nod to other posters on that) and go buy beer at the all night gift store. I bought one Miller Light for myself and one for my gambling friend at the table.

As soon as I got back the pit boss came over. I thought he was going to apologize for the slow drink service. Nope. He said I was not allowed to bring drinks to the table. Only drinks allowed were from the waitress.

    What?

I've gambled in many states and counties and I've never had that happen! I explained I bought it in the casino. Nope. Still not okay. He decided to "give us a break" and let it go!

Guess what happened after we finished the beers? Still no drink service in more than an hour. I asked if I could buy one from the bar. He said no. Only beer I could have was from the waitress. WTF??

All three of us at the table left. And one of those guys was betting two hands of blacks.

Is this something normal and I just never knew? I've never seen this in twenty years of gambling. The dealer was supper apologetic, but the pit boss was an ass. We were not rowdy or rude.

i bring drinks to the tables all the time as i drink whiskey and dont want them giving me well crap

a few years back my friend and I were in vegas at Harrahs, he had purchased a large corona from a store on the strip...we went in harrahs and hes been playing blackjack on this one table a while, he moves over to the next table and the dealer got an attitude with him and refused to let him play with the outside bought beer. I had a harrahs exec call me appologising and she said unless its brown paper bag liquor or you brought a 6-12 pack to the table it shouldnt have been and issue, i told her it was a corona and she said well we serve corona so it really shouldnt have been an issue...they pulled my friends card info up and had a talk with the dealer

harrahs is also the only place where a pit boss wouldnt let my friend play until he took his bluetooth headphones off from around his neck, not in his ears, just hanging around his neck

I've never heard of this before. Did you hold your spot at the table and take a extra long time or something? maybe the pit boss didn't want you leaving and coming back? I know ny ny rates players with a piece of paper instead of the touch screen computers...

Some of the pit bosses at NYNY are real jerks. I don't know their names, but I do know who they are and would not play
in the tables they are in charge.

I would have just said "I wouldn't have to go and buy my own if you had someone bring me one like every other casino in Vegas"

It's like the ticket thing that Mirage is doing, but at the tables. Takes longer for a CW to come by to save a few bucks. Worked out well for them there... with everyone leaving.

I have brought drinks to the table many times....hell people switch tables, change to tables from slots with drink in hand all the time. I don't believe that rule exists and he was being an asshole. He should have got on the phone to get a server to the table.

In my more casual clothes, I have some cargo pants that I stuff with bottles of beer. I've popped them out at Harrah's and the Mirage both, and have never had anyone say anything... pretty weird. I'd be pissed if this happened to me.

I stayed at NY NY last December. Wasn't too impressed with the general attitude of the staff there. Seemed like they were unhappy and indifferent. I 've been to Vegas 5 times since and haven't stayed at NY NY. Highly unlikely I will again after last year's stay.

I would have asked him to get a cocktail waitress and then just sat there not playing until she came..I have done that many times primarily in the morning when I need more coffee and you would be surprised how fast they find a server especially if your playing for decent stakes.

    No telling man.

Could have just had a big meeting before shift where they changed the rules again and he was forced to tell you that.

Could be he was just being a jerk. hard to tell.

I know my bosses change the rules all the time and put a happy face on it. Thats because they dont have to face the customers with the bad news. They just face each other in between patting each other on the backs.

This treatment deserves an email to corporate or actual letter and ask about this 'policy change' you were not aware of..blah blah..I'd be pissed If I was you...
Has nothing to do with this situation but playing BJ at Harrah's AC one time and no server for a loooong time the entire table stopped play until we got our drinks.

Had 3 comped nights at NYNY last memorial day. arrived at 930 am at invited guest line. they refuse to give me a room until 3PM. Well that means no swimming at super crowded rinky dink pool. So I start losing losing losing on the slots, not even $5 win.
Well after two miseable days, I noticed I am not registering enough slot points for some reason. Cannot get a decent explanation from the MLIFE Desk. Try to talk to a host and she is nasty for some reason. Drink waitresses would take an order but never return with a drink.
Slot attendents were not very swift to fix problems like getting a TITO to print.
All told, it was an extremely disappointing stay at NYNY. I have been to Vegas 23 times and most all nights comped. I was not expecting the world at NYNY> Will not stay there again. even with comped rooms. The employees are just not friendly at all.

I am writing to the NYNY (and responded to the feedback questionnaire they sent me). The table only had three people, so no big concern with me holding up play. I also was way shorted on play.

I'm calling out the pit boss. His name is Dennis. Older, stocky guy with short cropped hair.

Funny thing is NYNY is still sending me offers even though they booked me on paper as almost no play (reality was about 18 hrs over three days at an average of over $25 a hand).

I will be going elsewhere from now on. But I will say everyone else was great and otherwise a decent property.
