So I just called NYNY about the 2 comped nights they offered and asked about a 3rd night. The guy was nice, said rate would be 151 for 3 nights including resort fees. I then asked if I was just to book the comped nights would there be resort fees and he said yes and quoted $36. Does that happen to many people and is there any way we can avoid this? We technically don't NEED the rooms as we have comped rooms at Caesars but we were going to book it for my dad to upgrade his stay from downtown to here. $36 aint much, but figure would also like to avoid the charge if I could.

Yes you do get charged the resort fee unless your comped by a host. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

NYNY and Excalibur and Luxor are the only ones that charge. MGM did not.. which is surprising since MGM is a higher level place..

If you scroll down, there are couple of active threads about this.

Generally, they say you have to pay, but often do not. NYNY is one that is more apt to charge. You can always use your express comps to pay this.

NYNY will charge the resort fee unless you book with a host. I am not sure there is any way to get around it upfront otherwise. Before booking through a host I simply went to the Players Club desk before check-out and they would remove the resort fees. I assume under the Mlife program now they will just tell you to use your Express Comps.

Add Monte Carlo to the list of MGM properties that also charge the resort fees on comped rooms.

I'm at MC now. I'm not paying that fee. I do use a host, though.

FWIW, I've never paid a resort fee on a comp'd night, but do if it's not. Even if that means that I'm paying for the 4th night where the first 3 are comp'd. No resort fee on the first 3, but resort fee on the 4th.

If you're getting comp'd nights and others are saying a host can waive it, I'd call and ask to speak to the "Host on Duty". Have them book your stay.

Every time we've stayed at Monte Carlo comped, they've charged us the resort fee. Even when we paid extra for an upgrade. :grrr:

Just stayed at NYNY a few weeks ago. Normally i get my room comped or use my express comps to pay for it, but that never included the resort fee. This past time i went, they comped everything off based on my play INCLUDING resort fees. I didnt gamble anymore at the hotel than i usually do, but they did comp em off, so that was cool. Maybe something new they're doing.

NYNY is the only MLife property where I've ever paid a resort fee on a comped room

Very, very good point. I hate to pay certain little things, but come on... after dropping hundreds, maybe more... why let $36 get in the way.

I booked just through VIP services and they didn't charge me the resort fee for my stay last week. 4 free nights, no fees.
