5th trip to Vegas in as many years and staying 2 of the 6 nights at NYNY courtesy of MyVegas. I think I've only stepped briefly into the casino there so would love any tips/tricks/ideas about the place. Thanks in advance!

    Alright here goes........
Hotel Tower: I've stayed in the empire tower the past few times and have throughly enjoyed it.
Dining: America; Great ambiance, and great food! I would suggest the midnight special for $12.99 which is a 12oz ny steak, if I recall correctly you can add on crab legs(1/2pound) for $5.00? Gallaghers is a AWESOME resturant. I recommend the 21 day dry aged NY strip. Its very delcious. The filet Migeon is also very good and the prime rib of beef is a hearty serving..... it make require two people to finish! Now that we have the entree's out of the way...... on to the appetizers.... The crab cakes are sweet and savory, the seared scallops were very good. The salads are fresh and crisp, only dissappoinment was the King Crab Leg cocktail. It literally was 2 king crab legs broken in half on a plate with a small plate that had a lemon and cocktail sauce..... VERY DISAPPOINTING! For a late night snack the pizza place located near the news stand on the casino floor has some of the best authentic ny pizza! I would avoid the pizza place near the promenade level across from coyote ugly's bar, not good at all!
Drinks: Times Square bar and piano bar offer two varied experinces.
I have not seen Ka so I wouldn't be able to recommend

The pool area sucks! It's like it was an after thought. It's right next to the buildings, so the whole area is almost always in the shade. The big map of the USA in Americas restaurant was pretty cool. The casino is fairly small and easy to get around. When I was there, the blackjack tables were always busy no matter what time it was.

    Food related, try:
    Gallaghers - dinner
Il Fornia - great for all meals
    Greenwich Deli - great sandwiches

Not a fan of any of the pizza places there especially for the prices.

Get a few 190 Octane drinks from Coyote Ugly.

Breakfast at "Il Fornio" was very good (except the coffee), Also if you are staying there, it is BOGO free entrée for bkfst. Many great pastry places in LV, but here the pastry can hold there own against any of them...:peace:

Also I think it's Greenbergs Deli but +1 on that.

    Good Luck & Enjoy

I've stayed at NYNY several times and it's one of my favorites. I generally stay at 2 or 3 (sometimes more) hotels in a trip and I like to end my trips there for several reasons. One of the main reasons is that my feet are (almost) litereally trying to kill my by the end of a week in Vegas and it's a relatively small casino and close to bus stops. Plus, when my feet are particularly bad and refuse to leave the hotel, there are a wide variety of places to eat there, many of them pretty cheap--at least by Vegas standards. I agree with the above posters that the Greenberg Deli is one of the places I have to go each trip. Love their sandwiches! I also agree with BiGP on the pizza. The one downstairs is pretty decent for a late night snack but the one upstairs is awful. Bypass it and go get yourself a dog from Nathan's if you don't want to go downstairs.

Another plus to ending my trip there is that it's fairly close to the airport so it's a relatively cheap cab ride. If your gambling luck runs like mine tends to, every little bit helps.

Their basic room is pretty small but I was okay with it. I've been upgraded to the next bigger room before and liked it better but both were comfortable and clean. I've been a solo traveler when I stayed there so I can't speak to if it's uncomfortable for two people. That probably depends on the two people.

The staff there were very friendly and helpful. More than once I had them go out of their way to help me the last time I stayed. I'm a very low roller (more of a micro-roller really) and I was there on a My Vegas comp but they treated me great.

Thanks! I am looking forward to this trip as a "do-over" from last year's trip in which I got a nasty case of food poisoning leaving me in bed or puking blood for 36 hours and canceling every one of the good meals I had planned for. Woo hoo!

Sporting House at NYNY makes a very good french dip and serves a decent cheese-cake

Drinking wise .............Get a Vegas bomb or 2 if you want to jumpstart your evening

Didn't the Sporting House just close? I thought I read that somewhere.

I really enjoy NYNY. A lot of good comments here and I'll echo a few:

Skyhigh sandwich at Greenberg's Deli is one of the best deli-style sandwiches I've eaten. Ever.
    Casino has a fun vibe.
Gonzalez Y Gonzalez is a decent place for margs and decently priced Mexican.
    Pool area sucks.
Overall, a good place and a good value.

Does anyone know if NYNY has wireless internet available in the rooms? In one of the other threads someone mentioned that some of the hotels have ethernet cable internet access only.
