I had initially intended to do a live TR, but couldn't figure out tapatalk for the life of me. Then I got back and starting writing and thought it was very boring so I deleted it. This is my 4th try at writing this. Anyway, here's a quick report with some pictures. My brother found an amazing flight to LAX for $25, so I cancelled my southwest flight and booked it. Back when I was in the marines I would drive to Vegas, so I thought this would be a fun reminiscing road trip. We made good time, making it to Vegas in about 4 hours from LAX. We are staying at the MGM (first time), usually we stay at Excalibur because we don't spend much time in the room. I've always wanted to stay at MGM because it's my favorite place to play. Room was great, especially when you're used to the X. I was meeting up with a buddy from my service days, always great to meet up with guys from those days. I started with BJ. Luckily for a low-roller like myself it was Thursday and the tables were only $10. My plan was to play a $25 table later in the trip and hope for the best (more on that tragedy later). Got caught up with my buddy while playing and colored up +$77. Here's some chip porn that will make a college guy jealous. After that we decided to walk the strip. This was my first trip that I did not go to the Cosmo, Bellagio or Ceasers. Unfortunately I didn't even realize that until we were leaving. Oh well. We ate dinner at Twin Peaks, and because of the weather we sat inside instead of on the patio, it just wasn't the same. We made it to the Cromwell because a couple guys had never been there before. I love that place. We walked back to the MGM with no gambling to take note of. Friday two more friends flew in so I picked them up at the airport. One guy is a local friend, the other is a co-worker of his who I never met before. I was a little surprised when pulling up. My buddy and are in our early 30's, so I was not expecting his friend to be 55 or so. My hesitation quickly faded, he was an awesome guy (we'll call him V). We quickly get back to the MGM and V takes out a $3k marker. Us low rollers were curious of V, so we watched his first session of BJ. He insists on playing one on one with the dealer whenever possible and always sitting on 3rd base. That strategy worked wonders because after about 45 minutes he paid off his marker and walked away with $1975. We were in awe. We knew right away who was buying dinner that night. We made our way downtown. By this time I was down about $400. $40 here and $100 here through various slots and roulette bets. We decided to play $10 craps at the Golden Nugget. The tables were getting full but we squeezed our way in. 5-6 shooters later and I'm down another $150 and getting irritated. There is nothing worse than a craps table where everyone rolls 7's after getting their marker. FINALLY it was my roll. A little background on me, I drink a lot of fluids throughout the day on a regular basis so I always have to use the restroom. Yes I'm "that" guy. Anyway, once I got the dice I had to pee like a racehorse. I was down to about $30 from what I started with so I had to make it count. I once had a roll at Bally's that lasted over an hour, and I was hoping to duplicate that this time. I hit my first number and the table went nuts after so many losers. In the back of my mind I was getting worried, just how long will I be able to hold off relieving myself? I stopped talking and just concentrated on not peeing myself and rolling. My roll lasted about 35 minutes. I hit 6-7 numbers and ended with this. We left the table after my roll. We walked fremont street, making hit and runs in casinos I can't even remember. This was the highlight of my night, it was all downhill from here. V had never seen the Wynn (my personal favorite) so we drove over. Before we left the strip V bought everyone doubles from a sidewalk bar. I was the driver so my brother held the drink until we got to the Wynn. We are coming here, with no real intentions of gambling, just wanting to walk the casino floor. Well V decides he wants to play $25 craps, and by this time I've downed the double that he bought earlier. I'm naturally a light-weight (I can admit it) and we haven't eaten anything for hours. I have another vodka redbull and I'm starting to feel it. I start thinking, I'm in the Wynn I can hang with these guys. So I buy in for $200. Another drink later and all my green chips are toast. Oh well, lets try $25 BJ. Another vodka redbull and now I'm slurring. I even told myself I wasn't going to drink and gamble (advise from this site that I should have taken). I honestly have no idea how much time has passed, maybe 30-45 minutes. I barely remember the pit boss giving a guy next to me a players card and I yell out "I'll take one too". I look down and I've got a decent stack of green chips, probably $700 worth. My buddies "claim" they tried to get me to walk but I have no recollection of that. Next thing I know all of my green chips are gone. Oh boy, lesson learned the hard way. There's definitely a reason why the booze is free. The guys decide to go to a fancy steakhouse for dinner. I can't even tell you the name of the place. As soon as I walked in I went to the restroom and started praying to the porcelain gods. I never did make it to the table, and they couldn't lure me away from the bathroom so they ate without me. Apparently the dinner was "amazing". Whatever. They drive me back to the MGM and I barely make it up to the room without throwing up on some pretty girls' shoes. The entire thing is pretty embarrassing, I'm surprised I'm sharing it with you strangers. Oh well, lesson learned. I did however learn something from this board. Pedialyte. I chugged half a bottle and two excederin before crashing. I woke up not feeling great, but luckily did not have the hangover headache. I just didn't feel right. Another lesson learned - do not drink heavily the night before checkout!!! Leaving that bed and forcing myself to leave was painful. Now the most exciting part of the trip. We were literally 5 minutes from leaving the MGM and I get a call from my brother saying to get over to the high limit roulette wheel. I walk to up to see a man take out a $50K marker. He puts stacks of $100 chips all around the 4, not on the 4 but surrounding it. He also has 4 $10,000 chips on each corner. Well wouldn't you know, it landed on 4!!! He took his $50k to over $1.5 million!!! I've never seen anything like it. He then puts his $1.5 and scatters it on the high side of the table, not leaving one chip off the board. Sucks for him because it hit on 7, losing it all. He was totally indifferent about the whole situation. No emotion whatsoever. Anyway, enough of my long winded post. I did not mean for it to go on that long. Thanks everyone!!
