My mother(74) and I will be arriving Wednesday as part of a girls weekend. My sisters and nieces will arrive Friday. Originally my mom was to stay with her cousin and spend time with her. That has fallen through and mom will now be staying with us at the Monte Carlo. We will be there 5 days and she is not a big gambler. She has been to Vegas several times, so has seen all the free shows along the strip.

I am looking for some other activities to fill up some of the days. I'll have a car, so was thinking of riding out to the Valley of Fire one day, we have been to Red Rock.

Any other suggestions? Trying to think of inexpensive things.

    Thanks

    does she like animals?
Mandalay Bay as a cool aquarium
Mirage has the tiger/dolphins for about 20$
She might enjoy the titanic exhibit at luxor

    Mt. Charleston is free

Very scenic and different from the desert. You can pack a lunch and picnic up there or have lunch at the log cabin type restaurant. If mom has the National Parks Senior pass you can get into the Valley of Fire free. If not,you can buy it for $10 and use it at all National Parks forever. If you get an early start you can do both in the same day.

I go to vegas all the time with my mom who is a bit older the yours.

Do what I do, start drinking and doing what you want at 0700 and drag her around with you.

Toss her the keys to get you back to your hotel at the end of the day.

Works out great and we both have fun.

Would she enjoy the Neon Museum or the Mob Museum?

How about checking to the new Smith Center schedule, seeing if anything showing there might interest her?

How about an old fashioned style Italian dinner at Capos? http://www.caposrestaurant.com/ If you call ahead and make res, mention your mom, they will treat her like gold, seen it done before.

Has she been to top of Eiffel Tower or Stratosphere ? Gondola ride at Venetian? Spa treatments of any kind?

Spas are expensive but there are some schools out there like The Aveda Institute with reasonable prices.

Had a family get-together one year in Vegas. My Mom loved the Ethel M chocolate factory, in part b/c she was able to buy a bunch of [over-priced] gift boxes to take back to her friends as souvenirs.

Thank you for all the suggestions. I'm sure we will be using some of those ideas.
