    Heynow Gamblers....

Friend of mine who is not at all a Vegas person is looking for lodging close to the UNLV campus for an event at the University in June. He is traveling with his thirteen year old son and isn't interested in being in a casino.

I know.....not one of "us"

He wanted to stay in the dorms but they are already sold out. I was thinking maybe they could stay in a condo, any one have any other ideas, or recommendations. He came to me as a Vegas "expert" , but I only know about casinos and various degenerate activities :ssst:

They will have a rental car and plan on Red Rocks and Valley of Fire when they are not at the University.

    Thanks everyone....

    Rusty

They might try the Platinum, located at Flamingo and Koval. It gets very good reviews.

Habor Island (I wouldn't recomend) offers weekly rates but you'll be sharing the property with Drug Dealers, Degenerate Gamblers, Hookers, and the lowest dregs of society. I call it Hooker Island.

Across the street The Americana Inn also offers weekly rates and the clientele is more or less just regular folks and a few down on their luckers but completely harmless. Both of these are in Proximity to The Hard Rock should he change his mind and very close to UNLV.

There are actually a lot of non casino hotels geared towards airport traffic and convention business. Plus there are a lot of time shares that can be booked like hotels. It depends what he wants.

Thanks.......the Habor Island scenario is what he is trying to avoid and what I was concerned about, I think the condo/time share idea is a good one. Imreally hadn't thought about that.

    Thanks again.....

My daughter goes to unlv , she really is thriving at the school. I can't really picture to many hotels around the area, like within walking distance. Since they'll have a rental car, the search area should be (much) larger. A word of note tho, parking is a big pain in the as around that area unless they'll be able to park by the Thomas and Mack center.

I thinks there's a Hampton inn near the airport as its one of the places United tried putting me up at when a flight was canceled. There's a Courtyard By Marriott near the convention center too. I've only been to campus once for a concert, I don't recall any regular hotels within walking distance.

There is an Embassy Suites across from Hard Rock, that is pretty close to the UNLV area at least. They have a nice free breakfast and spacious rooms.
