I've read a few posts on here about NFL Sundays at Stratosphere ...looks like a good time. I see mention on their website and various posts on this board about BJ tables. Does anyone have any more specific info on BJ? What are the minimums? Do you get comped drinks while you play still? I'll be in town for the NFC/AFC Championship games and it would be nice to watch football, drink, and gamble at the same time.

I stayed there and didn't gamble at all last month. I was there on weeknights, so it wasn't a busy time, but damn, the joint was on life support. People played blackjack, but they're idiots. It was all 6-5, as best I could see. If there's a high limit area, perhaps it's not, but I don't know. I'm not high limit, and I didn't look. Others warned me the Strat was a bad place to gamble, and they were right. I didn't care, I only had a couple of hours to kill in that gyp joint during my stay.

I'm no casino exec, but holy crap do the idiots running that place not know how to put asses in the seats. That place use to be known for crap like double exposure blackjack, single-zero roulette and other stuff to get people in the door. I guess that didn't work so the new model is screw those who are stuck staying at our modestly priced, clean, sobering casino.

Obviously I have no idea how liberal they are with the drinks, but I'm guessing they suck at that, too.

I was more so asking about NFL Sundays and their viewing party. Website says they've got blackjack tables in the viewing area, just curious what that's like.

I just glanced in the viewing party area at the Stratosphere when I stayed there a year ago. I decided to opt for hopping between the main bar and the sports book - the Stratosphere has a $20 all you can drink special between 6pm-10pm I believe. I watched Monday Night Football there. Martinis, margaritas and draft beer. I think I made the right choice. I had a fun time. I might try that again one of these days.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help. I hope the action in the sports book, including the BJ, is too your liking.

No mixed drinks for that open bar gimmick means I'm not interested. But if you love tap beer, you're a winner.

    Good luck!

I guess you like the joint?

I've never been a big fan, but Strat serves a purpose. Considering the challenges of the location, they actually do a stroke of business.

No worries. I don't plan on going there for anything else other than football games. I've heard good things on this board about their viewing party, but will probably stay away from the rest of the casino.

Not sure about the Strat, but I'll be in Vegas for Championship weekend as well. I've been going to Lagasse's Stadium for the past 5 years. Great atmosphere. Rooms with BJ and craps tables with TVs. I think $15 BJ tables. Probably 6\5. Last year I lost $2k on the Pats and went into the room with the craps table and won the $2k back. The room is small. You can lean on the wall while playing. Fun stuff.

the second-rate burlesque show was pretty good, the room was clean, the observation tower is fun to visit. yeah, it serves a purpose, and i've been there many times. i've stayed there once previously, many years ago. the place was more like a morgue on a November weeknight. and as i noted, they use to actually draw gamblers to their casino. perhaps the lack of a pulse is due in part to the observation deck. there are always first timers who are in vegas, but the novelty of that thing has clearly worn off, as it doesn't command the foot traffic it use to, and therefore neither does the casino, evidently.

that aside, since i misunderstood the purpose of awlukas' question: anyone got some answers for him?

Skipped 2014 NFL at the Strat but I did a NFL Sunday during 2013 and 2012. Buddies played BJ. Dealers with big racks and easy on the eyes dealt $5 BJ with comped drinks. My buddies had an absolute blast. Hope that helps your question.

I think it's a lock that your BJ tables will pay 6:5

My wife and I went there last year also and was great being able to watch the games. Able to get a table up front and later the waitress gave us a booth when a couple left during the first game. We probably got there an hour before kickoff for a regular season game. May want to get there earlier for playoff game. They had 4 or 5 screens playing all the games. They had two betting stations for the games and I think 2 blackjack tables. I didn't look to see the limits or payouts. We enjoyed watching the games and having some stadium food and a pitcher of Margueritas. Hope this helps.

I'm guessing the Viewing Area is where the stage/lounge is ?
I believe that was the way it was a couple years ago ?

I always saw The Strat Casino as pretty lively ?
But I stay during warm months.....not November.

I'M not positive but I believe they cracked the doors about one hour before kick off. Not sure though. They set up satellite sports gambling in the back, in one corner and had the two BJ tables in the other rear corner. Waitresses were very fast with the drinks, the food was nothing to get excited about. Both side walls and the the main center wall have all games on very large screens so you were able to view all games. The seats at the BJ tables face the screens. Fans came in wearing their teams jerseys. Everybody was pretty cool with each other. Apparently my buddies didn't give a shit if the BJ was 6:5 because the booze was flowing, boobs were in their faces, and they were surrounded by football. Animal instincts took over and all in the world was good at that moment.

No doubt - but to be honest - the last 3 really great BJ runs I have had - have come at 6:5 tables - party pits at Cosmo twice and CP once.

As the above poster said - if I am playing with my buddies, drinking, watching football with boobs in my face - I am willing to sacrifice some house adv as rare as these events occur........

Doors open one hour before kickoff of the first set of games. There are sheets showing which games will be on the different screens, as well as betting sheets, parlay cards etc. on a table where you walk in. There are 9 giant screens. 5 at the stage and 2 on each side of the showroom.

There are two blackjack tables in the back were you can see all the games. The minimums are $5 and BJs are 6/5. You do get comped drinks when playing. There are two betting stations in the back as well and they will give out drink tickets as you make your bets. 3 or 4 waitresses cover the showroom and in addition to drinks will take your food orders.

You might want to contact them about the NFL playoffs, as I think they just do this during the regular season and other big events like march madness and the super bowl, but I'm not sure.
