Hi everyone! I don't know how I lucked up on the message board but I'm glad I did. I'll be going to Vegas for the 1st time in December and can't wait. I also can't wait to take a tour of this board, looks like a lot of good info. Any tips you have will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the family. You can find virtually any Vegas related, and many non-Vegas related topics here. VMB has helped a great many of us.

I am planning my third December trip in as many years. Vegas in December is fun. The Bellagio Christmas display is nice.

Shorts and a long sleeve or short sleeve during the day and pants and long sleeves or thin jacket at night.

Wear comfortable shoes we logged 8 miles a day just Casino sightseeing from Aria to Caesars and back.

    Have fun!

Welcome to VMB! IMO, there is nothing quite like your first trip to Vegas. I'm so happy you found us! My first trip was a total disaster because I knew nothing. I still was completely hooked and new I'd be back over and over again. :) Be sure to let us know what we can do to help you sort out all the options.

Stay on The Strip if your budget allows. There is a lot to be said for being in the "middle of the action".

Don't over plan your trip. You will want to do a lot of plain old wandering and gawking. Leave some room for it.

Ask questions, but be sure to let us know something about your interests/preferences, your budget and your age so we can better answer your questions. For example, restaurant recommendations for someone with a $25 budget will be a lot different than someone with a $100 budget.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome! I'm 39 and don't do clubs but I do like a nice bar setting, I'm pretty much laid back. I would love to see a musical while I'm there and I'm an amputee, below the knee, so I'm thinking about renting a car so I wouldn't have to walk as much. I know we(6 of us) don't plan on being in the hotel rooms until it's time to go to bed so hotel isn't a biggie but I do want to be in a clean and comfortable hotel while I rest. We don't plan to do any fancy eating but I do want to check out a buffet and I can't forget shopping, I just want to get my children and nieces a souvenir.

Not sure if this helps you or not but there is a free tram that runs up and down the left (on the photo) side of the strip with the exception of having to get around New York New York and Caesars Palace. We use it quite a bit on our trips. The casinos are massive so there is still a bit of walking involved to use them for example it's at the back of the Bellagio.

The Mono Rail runs on the other side and is paid transportation. We have never used it but it also runs at the very back of the casinos which is a jaunt from the front doors.

We also make good use of the Bus System. There are ticket booths all over the strip and we usually buy a couple of three day passes. It runs very frequently and drops you off at the front door of every casino.

Have a good trip and ask lots of questions the people on this forum really helped us save a lot of time, money and confusion in putting our trips together.

There is always a lot of walking in Vegas. I drive into town but park the car the whole time and use the trams and taxis to get around. I think sometimes having a car means more walking unless you use the valet.

Be aware all MGM properties are charging for valet and self-parking now too.
