This year we will be staying at the Mirage and I wondered about what to anticipate for the fireworks display. We will be attempting to go outside and watch them from that vantage point.

With that in mind and being aware of the weather, here are a few questions:

    1. Are alcoholic beverage allowed on the street?
    2. Once the fire works are over can we return inside to our casino?

Are there any other tips about being outside for NYE?? thanks in advance!

We were there in 14/15 and it was a huge mass of people. We were at Planet Ho and the thing I remember was no glass allowed on the strip. They gave you plastic cups to pour your drinks in. Getting back in the casino was an alright process we had to have our room key but a lot of people were just going in. Like I said it was an unbelievable amount of people. We will be at Planet Hollywood this year and may get a bottle of champagne and just watch from our room.............Rick

Where exactly do they shoot them off from?

The major hotels shoot them off from eachproperty so they are all over the strip. Caesars had a great display so your are in a great spot, can't tell you if Mirage had any or not............Rick

Went several years back. A bunch of the hotels shot them off. Alcohol is allowed on the strip, but in plastic only. They close the strip off from traffic and one side was for pedestrians and the other side was for police traffic. Can't recall them checking for a room key to get back in to the hotel, but they could have.

Has anyone been at the Foundation Room or maybe the Voodoo at Rio for at NYE fireworks time? Is it even possible for mere mortals to get a spot in one of those venues that night?

I saw a "cops" type show on tv and it was talking and showing the vegas strip on new years and it looked CRAZY!!! The police really have to put up with a lot that night.

Both venues will have a pay to access their party as will virtually every .lounge and bar on the strip.
The most important thing is get your hotel where you plan to party .If you leave your hotel early ,you may not get back except by walking.
It is close to impossible to navigate Las Vegas NYE .Picture Times Square NY.
Book your room early as room prices start to explode as the holiday approaches. I have seen rooms normally priced at $200 will be $400 on 12/30 and $600 on 12/31.

Another thing to keep in mind is that ALL retailers on or near the strip must stop selling alcohol sometime (noon?) on the 30th. If you want that bottle of champagne you need to have bought it before then. This is supposed to effect metal and glass, but we were not able to buy plastic bottles of liquor either. We were able to get someone to sell us a souvenir cup and poured a bottle of Jack Daniels into it for us, but right after we bought it, the girl was yelled at by her manager.
