New Tax rules on wins for Brits

    Allegedly! My friend has just been to the US Embassy in London to file her tax return for her slot win last year in Laughlin. She was told by the guy at the Embassy that the rules have changed and any W2G wins for Brits will have tax deducted unless you have your ITIN number and photo ID with you. This is a new ruling due to fraud evidently. He said it was even being done by the main Vegas casinos as well as the more obscure ones Off Strip and out of town like Laughlin.

    I only hope I get the chance to test it because I have my ITIN number already. Yay for that!

    I always thought that showing a passport was just asking for fraud on the casino's part. You could have a British (or other tax treaty country) passport and be a U.S. resident.......Therefore, not tax exempt.
