Has anyone stayed in the all new Golden Gate hotel suites in the new section they just built?
I remeber seeing a picture of the terraces for the rooms, and it had a counter top gas BBQ and couches...

I stuck my head in one while it was getting cleaned.
Remember couches, can't remember a bbq.
They are much nicer than their regular rooms, but they aren't all that.

We stayed in one of their suites last trip just to try something different. It overlooked the back parking lot which wasn't a problem. There was no balcony or bbq. You may be confused on that as there are no balconies on any room that I recall.

The suite was very quiet, we never heard any noise from the hall or from the parking lot. It had a Kuerig coffee maker, big flat screen tv and a safe. It had a big couch but no coffee table (it's more of a padded foot rest) so if you were relaxing watching tv or reading the paper, you had to hold on to your beverage. Not a big deal, just a bit of a pain. The bed was nice once we removed the mattress protector. There is too much plastic in the protector, so we just sweated all night. They need to buy better quality. (Cheap mattress protectors are one of my pet peeves. I was hesitant to remove it but knowing the matresses were new, there was no problem. We had this happen at the 4 Qeens just once before and just lived with it cause there was no way I wanted to remove it and see what was hidden. Next time, we'll ask for a new room though).

Would we stay again...probably not. Not because of the room but because the casino is so small, it felt like we were always there. We'd go out for breakfast in the morning and return in a hour, passsing and nodding to the BJ dealers. Then we'd go out to shop or whatever and come back again and nod again to the dealers. Then we'd go for lunch and the same thing would happen. Because it's a small "boutique' casino, it just seemed like we were always there. You can't really avoid the dealers unless you use the back door. So when it came time to play BJ, we went down to the D. We just felt we'd seen enough of them already. I hope you know what I mean, it's hard to explain.

I like playing BJ at the Golden Gate, so for that reason we probably will go back to staying at the 4 Queens and just keep the Golden Gate for gambling.

But in all honesty, the suite was nice. We had 2 nights comped and paid cash for the 3rd night. Came home to find the last night charged to our credit card as well. Two phone calls and 2 months later, they finally credited our charge card. Keep your receipt if you pay cash, something weird was going on there.

Check their website for pics of their suites. If you have any other questions, I'd be happy to answer.

The BBQ's on the patio are in the 2 high roller suites. They are different from the other new suites. haven't been in one and doubt they are renting them. The others seemed fine. at least compared to their old rooms they were outstanding!

I stayed in one a few weeks ago along with my bro who slept on the pullout.

    Pros:
the shower head! It's like standing under a warm waterfall
Nice big screen tv with a good selection of channels and great picture quality
Queen sized bed was pretty comfy. I keep the room as cold as possible and never had an issue with the mattress protector.
Suites are right next to the elevator away from the noisy Fremont street.

    Cons:
When the pullout was out it was blocking most of the entry to the bathroom area.
The shower/toilet aren't very private so if you're not with a spouse or close relative then it could get awkward.
Shitty placement of the light switches when coming into the room.

Would I stay there again? No but that's got more to do with the super fucking horrible host Steve who screwed up the reservation (he never actually made the reservation just took down my info) and couldnt be bothered to even call me after we checked out to apologize. I paid for them and got them comped off along with my room charges when we left.

Setting the host lack of doing anything he was supposed to do I liked the room enough to stay in it again if I were to stay there again.

Yes, Whitney is a good host

Whitney is my host as well there and she is wonderful. She keeps in touch. I was told that there was only one host and she was it, but this other one must be new.

I've also talked to Benji. I know the hotel GM's name is Benton Hui, but I wouldn't think he'd be speaking as a host (or using an informal name) when someone is calling to make some arrangements.

Then again, a small property... if Whitney isn't around, maybe that is the GM taking the call.

If we decide to stay downtown again I'll give her a call.

They don't have baccarat and their pai gow pay tables for hands of 4OAK and higher are lower than they should be for the fortune bonus. Max bet on the fortune bonus is $5 which is also lame. The smoking hot dealers almost make up for that :)
