(If this belongs in a different location, feel free to move it).

The South Point announced this afternoon that a 60-lane bowling stadium will be built on their property, which will hold 4 of the men's USBC Open Championships (aka "Nationals") and 3 Women's Championships tournaments between 2016 and 2023. In addition to the 7 total national tournaments, many other bowling tournaments can be held there.

This is in addition to the existing 64-lane bowling center at South Point.

As a bowler, this is huge, Huge, HUGE news! :woohoo::banana::woohoo::banana:

Yes indeed. Vegas does have quite a few bowling centers but a stadium is something new. This will for sure increase the tourist numbers in the years to come. Part of what's keeping Reno alive is their National Bowling Stadium.

Yeah, and my contacts say that the Reno/Sparks CVB is NOT particularly thrilled with this.

Mind you that the National Bowling Stadium opened in 1995, and when the current contract runs out in 2030, that the city will have had about 25 National tournaments in that 35 year span. But I don't think the RSCBV has an exit plan for when the bowling gravy train ends.

When the South Point stadium comes on line, and the tournament destination rotation is Vegas / Reno / Vegas... how many bowlers are going to skip the Reno year?
