My name is Doug. I'm a longtime Vegas tripper and I came here for some very difficult advice...I'm hoping someone can help!

I'm finally asking my long term girlfriend to get married. Our first real date was in Las Vegas and we've made many return trips since then. I wanted to go big with the proposal, and I thought "what bigger way to go then one of the big marquee signs on the strip!". We are going in mid October and staying at MGM Skylofts. We've stayed there several times before, and always had good luck getting their concierge involved in past requests. No luck this time. I met with the head concierge and after talking to their marketing department, they said they couldn't do it.

I know there are multiple large video screens on the strip, but I think almost all of them are property owned and I think I'm going to get the same answer. I do recall there being a large video screen above a walgreens or a cvs over towards mgm?

Does anyone here know of any other places to try or have an in with somebody in marketing at a harrah's property? Just thought I'd ask. When I met with the Skyloft folks, it seemed it wouldn't be a problem. I already had the proposal video made and everything. It's only 2 and a half minutes, and I only need it played one time....

    Thanks in advance!

    Doug

Good luck with your "project". I can't imagine any casino property allowing anything private to be displayed on their boards. How about Fremont Street Experience?

Let us know how t went.

    Thanks

That would be awesome. I'll check with FSE and see but I think they have to program that show?

I've kinda figured out that the hotels won't allow it, but I was hoping I could find a private business that had one (like walgreens or cvs).

    I'm open to any ideas!

    Thanks.

are you sure you want everybody on the strip seeing your video? you know there's a theater/viewing room in the Mansion. it's about a 300" screen i would estimate. i would talk to the Skylofts concierge about getting you a dinner res at the Mansion restaurant and then you can walk over to the theater kinda just touring the place and they can start the video right when you walk in the room. they can even have a bottle of bubbling ready to pop when she says yes.

    Thanks

I like the mansion idea but I did want to do something really public. I'm taking her to Hyde at the Bellagio after the proposal (assuming she says yes). I have a musician friend who recorded a song I wrote for her overlooking the fountain. I spoke to the manager and he arranged a really nice private table for us. And I had Skylofts do the whole rose and candles package for when we return. I just wanted to do something big and grand...and unique...in true Vegas style.

    I appreciate the suggestions!

2 and a half minutes is a very long time on a public message board. They have other things they would rather do that tie it up for one person. Keep trying and you will find somebody who will decide it is cool.

Suggestion - put the video on utube so you can at least share it with somebody that might listen to you. You can mark it private so only those with the link can see it.

And, is their audio? big issue.

Someone mentioned audio...that would be a concern especially if your video is 2.5 minutes long.

Perhaps an idea would be the really sweet HD sign at Harmon corner at PH across from Crystals. Last time I was there, there were always commercials playing for the Red Bull Stratos jump. Perhaps if you could find out who own that, obviously time can be bought on that sign.

There is a live web cam at the Vegas sign. If I could propose to my fiance again, I would have her pull it up on the computer and have WILL YOU MARRY ME written out on big signs and call her and have her watch the sign, then when she tells me she can see me on the computer reveal it.
