Not looking for anything more than a great chocolate shake.

A while back I asked and was informed of the Ghiradrdelli place which was great but now gone. Afterward I would get my daily fix at the Sugar Factory and this past trip they said they no longer make milkshakes.

Tried a place or two within the mall at PH but they sucked.

We tend to stay at PH and would like a place close by. Any ideas?

How much do you like chocolate? If you love a rich dark chocolate, go to Max Brenner at the Forum Shops and order the Chocolate Granita.

The chocolate granita is a drink made using the fresh chocolate ganache they make in-house each morning. They add a little cream and a little ice and blend it. What results is an ice-cold silky-smooth drink that is chocolate in its purest liquid form. The dominant flavor is the dark chocolate and it has a clean finish that is actually very refreshing and thirst-quenching. Unlike normal milkshakes, it won't feel like dairy or sugar was the main ingredient.

You have a choice of milk or dark chocolate, but I'd recommend the dark chocolate version. The milk chocolate version loses that essence of chocolate and becomes more of a traditional milkshake.

I love chocolate and the dark chocolate granita is the only "milkshake" I'll drink. All other milkshakes are usually too cloyingly sweet or contain too much milk fat. I want icy liquid chocolate and the granita delivers.

Be sure to get the granita and not the frozen hot chocolate. The frozen hot chocolate is only on the menu because it's a famous drink at Serendipity. They use powdered cocoa to make it (just like Serendipity) and it has none of the greatness that is the chocolate granita.

If you don't want to have to sit at a table and order, you can order at the bar and they'll put it in a to-go cup for you.

If you enjoy the more dairy-laden and sweet milkshakes of traditional ice cream places and burger places, Holstein's would be the best choice. Their signature milkshake is the Cereal Bowl which, while not chocolate, is very interesting (it's Cap'n Crunch cereal flavored!). None of their choices are really a chocolate shake, so you might still be better off going to Max Brenner and choosing from the many chocolate milkshake concoctions.

Haven't tried Holsteins yet, but it seems to be the only joint I see getting the ink for their milkshakes.

If you can make it down to the South Point, there is a "Steak 'n Shake" in the casino ... very good 'shakes, of many different flavors.

Holsteins is good, but Burger Bar at Mandalay Bay is better. Of course, its further away, but IMO, worth the walk!

Johnny Rockets in either Flamingo or the Venetian. They have good old school milkshakes. It's a 50's theme diner.

Come on now, they got nothing that can compare to the drunken monkey served at Holsteins. In fact i think Burger Bar Vegas location is pretty weak compared to other locations across the country. All these good reviews about Max Brenner got me intrigued however and is now a must try on my next trip.

Look no further than BurGR right inside PH. They float pudding on their shakes and they are out of this world. I've only had the coffee and oreo, but geez they were delicious!

Haven't tried the other locations, only Vegas. And I like Holstein's too (I'll be having one of their milkshakes next Friday!), but the Burger Bar shakes I have had were thicker and sweeter (which is what I like)

I highly recommend it, but just want to reiterate that it's not really a milkshake. It's not creamy at all. Don't want you to excitedly go there expecting a creamy milkshake and being disappointed.

Imagine putting some dark chocolate in your mouth and then waiting for it to melt and coat the inside of your mouth. Now imagine that melted chocolate being icy cold and in a form that could be easily sucked up through a straw. That's the texture of the drink. It's a chocolate experience unlike anything I've had before.

Best I had in vegas was at BLT Burger in the Mirage. Wasn't crazy about my burger but the shake was fantastic. They have a takeout counter if that's all you want.

Oh no....why would The Sugar Factory quit making shakes....geez....makes no sense & it was so convenient for us staying at Paris or Bally's. Friend had one at the Burger Brasserie @ Paris & thought it was great but we may have to go to PH & try BurGR's.

Strip burger at the fashion show mall has good shakes, at least they did when I was there last, but I admit that it's been a while ago

I really enjoyed the shakes at Roxys at Stratosphere which is a 50s style diner but the service is horrible. I remember it being one of the best shakes I ever.had back in 2010.
