    Thanks in advance...

Almost every year we rent a car for a day to see off strip sites (Red Rock, etc). This year we are staying at the Bellagio. The rates for one day at the B are a few dollars cheaper for same car from airport for our whole 4night/5day trip. My dilemna are these facts:
I hate driving on the strip and while this is my 10th trip don't know my way around off strip too well.
I don't want to worry about DUI. It is Vegas. We enjoy our cocktails.
We plan to go to the Damn (3rd time). We have not seen the new bridge yet, go to M resort and maybe back to Gold and Silver Pawn.
We go downtown one night, but again I don't want to hold back drinking because we have to drive back.

I never rented a car at the airport. Is it easy in and out from the rental offices? Besides a couple of bucks for the valet, I guess I could leave the car parked there except for our trip.

    What would you do?

We always rent a car for the whole trip. We avoid driving the strip, we use the roads that run along side of the strip behind the casinos.

Most hotels & casinos have back access. I used this link to get instructions for the parking garages:

Haven't checked it lately, I hope it still works.

Take the bus or cab to Fremont street, it doesn't cost you any extra to leave your car at the hotel. You wer going to use alternate transportation anyhow.

Picking up and dropping off at the airport is really easy, there are shuttles that take you to the rental facility.

I think you will be surprised at how much more freedom you feel you have with the use of a car for daytime activities. And yes, don't take it out when you plan on drinking.

JohnnyV, renting at the airport is very easy as is drop-off. Advantage airport for the savings of transfer to your hotel and back again so factor that in your cost benefit analysis. I have rented a couple of times from the hotel locations and there is no chance of a free upgrade.

As for cabbing it (my choice over the bus). You would be doing this while drinking so it is a fixed expense.

The airport is easy for car rentals. Follow the signs for ground transport and take the shuttle over to the car rental center. Find your agency, get your car and go. Reverse for the return. Nice advantage, you have a place to lock up your baggage before you check in and after you check out. Getting to/from the rental center is easy.

For downtown, you might just consider trying to score a cheap or free room down there on the night you go. That way you have a place to sleep it off. It's also nice to have a room to go in and out of during your day/night downtown. You might even come out ahead with the coupons you get at checkin. ;)

If the cost is close, renting at airport is a good idea. It then handles transfers to and from airport. You can then decide LATER which day or days you go off strip. Self park is pretty easy at Bellagio. You come in right behind the check in desk.

Just throwing an idea out here! Not sure what your plans are when doing your driving activities but might try airport pickup with car and different drop off location like GN down town. the night of letting loose., then catch a cab back that evening.

    good luck
