What tips would you give to someone new to MyVegas?
Thank you for any and all replies.
Hopefully someone will answer because I haven't a clue what I am doing.
More specific questions would be good. But in general, just start playing. At certain levels you will be allowed to build resorts on your strip, when that happens, bet the minimum to build the hotel faster. You want to build the hotels so you can collect chips to play with.
Other than that, it's simple. You use the red chips to play, the goal is to collect gold coins (loyalty points). The loyalty points is what you redeem for rewards.
Is there any reason to hoard red chips or should one just play them as fast as you get them?
Is there any reason not to use autospin?
Which games do you generally have the best luck with?
Bet lower when building your strip (about 150-300)
Join the group: myvegas friends rock
Add friends (real friends or see the myvegas group for more info) to increase you daily spin multiplier
Collect your strip a few times a day. (do it at LEAST once a day to keep you daily spin multiplier intact)
Many people collect the chips all week and just play them on weekends. Your choice.
I'm sure there are more great tips, but that's it for now. I've been playing since November 2012 and have cashed in on rewards on 3 different trips.
Put in a little overtime at work and use that money for Vegas. If you look at the time you spend playing MyVegas against the value of the rewards, you pretty much seem to be making third-world wages for the time spent on the game.
One of the most important things is that you can only earn 2000 LP in a day through game play, later on you can earn LP from leveling up (at least I don't think they let you earn LP for leveling up right from the start - they didn't when I started playing).
So unless your trip is way off in the future the key is to try and make sure you earn your 2000 LP a day and to that end you want to play as long as you can. There are formulas out there for whats the best bet to LP ratio but that won't help you if you don't have enough red chips to sustain playing at that level, IE: if your level the best bet to make for LP earning is 500 chips per spin and you only have 10,000 chips you will likely be better off to bet less because a small bet per spin means you get more spins and the more spins you get the better your chance to ride out the ups and downs your bankroll will take as you play.
Some people think they should finish off their properties around the same time so they will all be pickable at the same time, IE: try to get the last piece of a property at 6PM-ish so that you can log in around 6-7PM and pick all your properties. Instead I wouldn't worry about that and just try to visit MyVegas as many times as you can during the day because some of the properties have long times between when you can pick them and some have short ones (and some are very short) so the most often you can pick the better.
You want to make sure you log in at least once per day so that you can maintain the 3x multiplier for daily spin.
Check your email: sometimes they will send emails out with links that you can click for free chips. Also if you get emails from any of the MLife properties check them as well, some have free chip links at the bottom of them.
If you earn your 2000 LP in a day some people want to quit for the day and stop there, thats up to you: it does preserve your red chips but more important is that later on, at the higher levels, you get 1000 LP each time you level up so the faster you level up the sooner you start getting those 1000 LP bonuses. If it is a "Double XP" day or couple of hours you want to play as much as you can then because that will help you level up faster.
The best game to play for long term sustained play is "Lost in Time" but you don't want to just pick a bet amount and stick with that and hit AUTOPLAY. Instead you want to see how many tumblers START each round and base your bet size on that.
As an example: say you have 25,000 chips.
At the bottom of the screen is two rows of 8 numbers. To get to the bonus round you have to match the top 8 numbers to the bottom 8 numbers.
When you start a new round (after finishing the free spins from the previous bonus round) the game will come up with 8 new bottom row numbers and then randomize the top 8 numbers of which 1-4 of the top row numbers will match the bottom row.
So if you have 25,000 red chips then what you want to do is:
If the round starts off with 1 number matched: bet 200 per spin
If the round starts off with 2 numbers matched: bet 400 per spin
If the round starts off with 3 numbers matched: bet 1000 per spin
If the round starts off with 4 numbers matched: bet 2000 per spin
You do this because the more numbers you start off matched the closer you are to getting to the free spins and thus the less volatile the game will be, which allows you to bet more.
You can actually steadily earn red chips through this game so as you earn more you can increase your bet size, like if you have 100,000 red chips you might instead be betting 400 if 1 number matches, 1000 on 2 starting numbers matching, 2000 for 3 and then 4000 for 4 matching off at the start of the next round.
If you aren't paid hourly, that is a bad solution lol...
I think the purpose of hoarding chips is to be able to get a good run going on a particular game. You can ride out the bad streaks. And its better when you have a double XP weekend because you can level up quicker. Leveling up quick is really important. The more you level up, the more LP's you get.
You will get used to autospin because it gets tedious if you are playing over and over by clicking every time. Make good use of it, and your time won't be wasted. I find that certain games will seem to pay on certain days. I find if i get no decent wins after 10 or so spins, i try a different game.
Question about building your strip...what is the criteria for earning pieces to build your hotels? I.e is it just random to earn them or do you have to play through certain amounts of XP to earn them? I'm on level 60 now and have just completed Luxor, no idea if that's good or bad.
I'd recommend just playing to build your strip...don't worry about much else. It's slow going in the beginning but you'll slowly start to see your gold coins (LPs) rise. Once you get the strip built, mine chips as you have time throughout the day. I think the biggest advantage for beginners is to make sure you log in every day (actually every 42 hours or so) to keep your daily spin multiplier up...that will help you get the most chips possible.
You can also download the mobile version which will link to your Facebook but the consensus is the desktop version is much, much better to accumulate LPs.
Follow @myVegas on Twitter for more free chips. I collected 3,000 in two separate tweets today.
I took a few notes while building the resort at Level 68. I had to collect 7 pieces, the first 2 pieces took about 80 spins each to collect, number 3 took 85 spins, and numbers 4-7 each took 99 spins to collect and complete the resort. IMO its all about the number of spins, not coins per spin.
Edit: In this post I said SPINS but further discussion seems to point out I should have said Vs. Sorry the confusion. Tye
In building resorts it is based on spins - not XPs. That is why people say to bet minimum amounts when building hotels. Whenever I was building a hotel I just bet the minimum amount and the maximum autospin until the hotel was fully built. Pick a game that doesn't stop very often - I used Bet the Farm - I think others suggested the bird game. If you do that you can get the hotel built as fast as possible - within a level or two of when it first opens up.
TY: Can you clarify/add-to your stats on building Mandalay Bay? (games, time of day, amounts, etc.) I've been doing $150 per spin on Luxor, Frontier, and low-cost Exalibur. The first three sections of the casino take 75 "V" symbols, and I am averaging 577 spins to build each section. (618, 581, 532 respectively).
Thank you much for your contribution.
When they introduced the sherlock holmes game I, normally sitting with around 20k chips to play per day, did 8k per spin until after like 7 days of trying hit the bonus. The bonus was worth 285k chips. I've been playing at 1,200 a spin in the level 85 range and am now around 600k chips.
Honestly, it's probably worth it to save up chips for either a double XP or LP event or just save them up to be able to sustain the losses from a bad run.
However, I'm a relatively novice player, I've use the rewards twice now on different trips and really enjoyed them but I've never had more than 110k in LP at any one time.
TX, just found your request. I will try to add more details this evening after work.
Thank, TY. Always looking for subtle hints that might speed up the process, or make life a little easier.
I'm starting to think I should have said V's instead of spins. Looking at level 58 may notes say 75, 75, 75, 75, 80, 80, 99.
Sorry for the confusion. I did make it a point to play at the lowest number of coins possible when building resorts.
A lot of people like to play the bird game when building resorts but that game seems to slow down my computer, Bet the farm worked best for me.
Thanks for clarifying: Was starting to think I had no idea how to play this thing correctly.
I'm into the last piece, 17/99 V's collected. it has taken 3900 spins at $150 to get here. I rotate the games a little bit just to keep it fresh.
the takeaway for beginners: It takes effort, but getting a nice free room for your next trip is worth it.
