    My Trip Report

Stayed a week in Vegas from Jan 13-18. Mirage was home base for all days/nights. Initially, I was not too excited about staying at the Mirage because on previous trips several years ago, I thought the casino was too dark and not bright and airy like the Wynn or Encore's casinos. The only reasons I settled on the Mirage was because of the MLife offer of 3 comped nights. Hubby has the My Vegas account and we were able to secure the $50 & $25 Free Play, 2 Free Mirage Dinners, 2 Free Sunset Station Buffets, and a $10 off Palace Station Grand Cafe offer. Our My Vegas offers were pretty good. I can't complain and were VERY please with what we redeemed our points for.

We had tickets for the Bobby Caldwell concert (Jazz/R&B) on Saturday, 1/16 so we rented a car for 1 day to drive out to Sunset Station instead of cabbing it. Rental from Dollar was only $50 whereas cabbing it to/from would be way more than that. Thanks to My Vegas, we had 2 buffet coupons, so we ate dinner before the show and gambled. The show was EXCELLENT without a bad seat in the showroom. Mature audience also enchanced the show. Bobby was great and played a good mix of his old & new songs. He made a tribute to Natalie Cole who he said gave him his first break by allowing him to open for him years ago. Sunday afternoon before returning the car, we drove to Palace Station to redeem our Cafe coupon and both had the $9.99 T-Bone Steak Dinner (which was very good). The bill was only about $25 and with the $10 off ended up being only 15$ and change. Now this isn't a fancy-smancy steak dinner, but was very good. Nice steak with baked potato, green beans, salad. We will definitely be going here again next trip.

Now....on to the Mirage. I was pleasantly surprise from the moment we walked into the resort. The smell was wonderful and for some reason, the casino did not seem as dark and drab as I imagined. Check-in was easy, but our rooms were not ready, so we played slots and then trammed it over to TI. A couple of hours later, they texted us to let our know our room was ready. I was not feeling asking for an upgrade or trying the $10 trick, I just asked if I could get a high room overlooking the Strip. We ended up on the 15th floor with a view of Venetian, Casino Royal, Harrah's, Lync, Flamingo. I was happy. Yes, the bathroom was small, but really not a big issue for us. The room was clean and very nice. We found the location EXCELLENT as we had our choice of going in either direction on the Strip. We usually get the 3-Day Deuce pass where we can just ride up and down either end of the Strip. We walked to the close places like Harrah's, Lync, Venetian as they were directly across the street and trammed it over to TI (with the Fashion Show Mall across from TI and Wynn). I work PT from home for Nordstrom, so of course I had to visit our Vegas store. Stopped by the Nordstrom beauty counters for a makeover and tutorial. Met with Beauty Specialist Zorana at the Chanel counter and she did a fantastic job. Gave me lots of pointers for applying makeup and what tools to use. *** Ladies....if you are interested in a makeover or purchasing makeup, I highly recommend stopping by the Chanel counter and asking for Zorana. She is FANTASTIC!! ***

Okay....back to the gambling report. This trip was a very good one and we actually won more than we lost, which is a win in my opinion. We played the majority of time with winnings from the various casinos and only had to dip into our own money once or twice. We did very well at Mirage, Aria, Gold Coast (caught Duece Bus there and took Harrah's Shuttle back to Strip), and TI. Gold Coast breakfast is good, especially for $7.99, beats the Strips breakfast which costs anywhere between $17-25) and is just as good for the basics that I eat. Won the most at Mirage which was a good thing because we played the most there. We went from the lowest card level (Sapphire) to the next lever (Pearl) during this trip. We charge a Luxor breakfast and a Mirage Lunch Buffet to our room and these were taken off at checkout. Our original bill was something like $470 and we were comped about $175 off, so ending bill was about $315 for five days.....WINNING!!:)

I really enjoyed my stay and already plan on staying at Mirage again during my next trip this Fall. The location, in my opinion, can't be beat and the casino was not as dark as I thought it would be. Next trip I will try for a Suite and would be willing a pay for the upgrade. Since returning, I will continue to play My Vegas, but not as much....probably just to keep my account and points active. I still have about 700,000 gold coins, so I am good. Maybe My Vegas will have some better room/suite deals by then. Here's hoping.

Great trip report. I have heard good things about Mirage never have stayed there. I am hooked on Mandalay Bay. I might check it out for future trip. I always do a makeover at Sephora but nice to know about the Chanel Counter. I also like the idea of getting a car and going to Sunset Station for something different to do I use My Vegas rewards as well. How long of a drive was it to SS?

Mirage is our home base. Will be there soon, love the smell! On the other hand how was the smell at TI? When I stopped in there this past Oct it was awful!

I really don't remember the smell in TI, but I definitely remember the Mirage. It felt good after a long day of casino hopping to walk back under the Mirage dome. Love this place!!
