i want some feedback about my roulette betting pattern
because my birthday is May 22 (5, 22), i play a section of the wheel containing 5 and 22
    [11, 7, 20, 32, 17, 5, 22, 34, 15]
plus middle column and middle row and BLACK ("always bet on black")

i'll typically start with $10 on each number and $100 on the 3rds and $100 on black
and work up to $25 on each number, $200 on 3rds, and $200 on black
the highest i've gone is $50 on each number, $500 on 3rds, and $500 on black

i don't always raise the outside bets as i raise my inside, just depending on the way things are going or my chip count

am i hedging my bets enough? am i risking too much on one side?
i've never actually read any strategy .. just saw that my birthday was on the wheel and started playing from there

    any feedback appreciated

You're already hedging a lot. You're already covering about three quarters of the available numbers. But none of that changes the house edge. So win you win, especially on 17 or 20, you win big. But if you hit one of the ten numbers you don't have covered, you will lose really big. A couple thoughts:

*Add one more ten dollar inside bet and you should be able to play on a single zero wheel. That's significant and reduces the numbers you don't have covered from 11 to 10. Not sure why you want to wager $390 per spin. Add an extra number or put an extra $10 on your favorite (5 or 22).

*I would definitely hit and run with this strategy. You should hit something approximately three out of every four spins. But nine of the numbers you win on won't cover the $390 you're wagering per spin. So if I got up a few units with this strategy, I would bolt. If you hit a number you don't have covered a couple times in a row, it will be hard to come back from that. And depending on your bankroll, it may end up being a short game.

If you are going to hedge your bets that much, why play the game at all?

Face it, there is no such thing as "roulette strategy." You can't bet a certain way and alter the house edge.

There was a trip report around July / August 2015 containing a big roulette win, covering a number pretty good. So rather than hedging it was like going all in. If I can find it I'll post it here, or if someone can remember the report perhaps they can post it here. It included picking a number and playing the corners etc.

You will lose but try this. It's a very low house edge considering... 1.6875%.. You should win 2 out if 3 spins.. If the zero comes up you win 150..

Yup. There is always anecdotal "evidence" of systems working and of course any/every system "works" sometimes. But you are always bucking the same house edge. Many gamblers think that when they win it's because of their "system" and when they lose it's just "bad luck". It's all luck in roulette.

My chips are the brown ones. I'll also do this same bet by playing the corners as well. I hit the same pattern on 20 a few spins later. When I play roulette I'll do this and hit and run if I get a couple of quick hitters. Its no better or worse than any other strategy, except the five number bet, I'm still bucking the 5.26% house edge.

Another way I'll play is to put five or so chips straight up on numbers that are adjacent to each other on the wheel. Still 5.26% house edge.

I like to play numbers straight up, at the minimum, and swing for the fences. If I get a couple of good hits I'll walk............

Right. On European wheels only though.
On those wheels, you can shave the total house edge down if you increase the amount of even-money wagers thanks to the "en prison" rule.

Hope you liked my reference to your trip report Mike. :D
I was there this time last year not long after seeing your trip report.
Of course it didn't work for me. But my number came up the spin I didn't play. My wife just won it straight up

It was kind of cool seeing those pics I took last summer, I pretty much forgot about those hits. For me, the only way to play roulette is to be aggressive and be willing to walk with a quick win or walk after I lose my buy in which is usually $100. Roulette, again - for me, is not a long term deal....the house edge will grind me to dust if I play too long. Still, its a fun game to go for some bigger money once in a while plus its the first game I ever played in a casino so there's the nostalgic value for me as well.

    thanks for the responses

    yes, it's not a "system"
which is why i didn't even title this my betting "strategy" and chose the word "pattern"

    way back when i started, i used to play $5 x 8 numbers + $40 on black ($80 total)
and i'd double the bet on black ($40 to $80 to $160) while keeping the same $5 x8 on the inside numbers
or i'd play $100 on black and let it ride 3 times to try to hit $800 (or lose my initial $100)

my bankroll and my bets have grown significantly
i guess the reason for even making this thread was because i realized that i was risking quite a bit on the outside bets
that even when i hit a number, i wasn't winning THAT much sometimes
so i typically add an extra $5 on 7 and 34 since hitting those still loses on the 3rd's and black bets

i actually hit it pretty big on black 17 this past weekend ... had $35 on 17 straight up, $25 splitting 17/20, $200 on each 3rd's, and $200 on black
    win $1225 + $425 + $400 + $400 + $200 .... + $35 + $25 + 200 + 200 + 200 (original bets) - ($280 on other numbers) = $3030 (?? my math could be off a bit but it was in that neighborhood)
and that was my 2nd number hit in 3 spins
unfortunately i got greedy and bet $50/number and $500 on the black and 3rd's and ended up giving back all of it and then some

Story of every degenerate gambler, right?

anyway, after that session, i toned it down on the outside bets and just tried to get off the table if i got to about 4-5x my original buy-in
and i was able to recover pretty much everything on the next day
actually left vegas with money in my pockets

Like stated before there really is no strategy more paterns or multiple bets to increase your chances. Question though about playing the table or the wheel for your favorite numbers, what makes more sense?(i know the real answer is it does not matter) I usually dont platyroulette but wife does because you dont have to use strategy. Thinking about it I seem to remember more near misses on the wheel than i do on the table.

I play pretty much the way Mike does. Same number, in fact. Corners and straight up on 26 (birthday), split the 9 and 12 (anniversary), split the zeroes and straight up on 13. That's 8 units bet out of a 100 unit bankroll. If I get to 150 units I walk. Same if it gets down to 25 units. Relaxing way to waste some time. But I go for the fences, not small ball. To each their own.

Prime numbers, digits of pi, Fibonacci sequences, fortune cookie numbers, dog's birthday, yesterday's power ball, doesn't make much difference.

The only time I ever played roulette, I had 2 match play coupons and put one each on red and black. The ball landed on 00.
