    Hello all

I will be celebrating my 30th bday in vegas Oct 6-9. This is my first time visiting the city so I pretty much know nothing. here are the deets about the trip...

about 4 to 6 ppl, at different times though. example mother and grandparents first 2 days then my gal friends last two

mom and grands likes to gamble, me im ok with it but my friends and I mostly want to party.
hopefully to pool is still available during this time?

Something central so my mom doesn't have to walk too much to play. And I aslo don't want my mom to be too overwhelmed.

I'm paying for the room, which I would like to get away with only having one room. Grands are getting their own room. not too expensive since I'm paying. $90 and under.

I've been looking at rio, Bally's and some others for deals. although rio rooms look ok I counted it out because of distance. Idk I'm stumped.

Any help is greatly appreciated, Thanks!

I would stick with Ballys. It's really a nice hotel and the casino has plenty of machines/tables without being overwhelming. You are also connected to Pairs via an indoor walkway.

Welcome to the board & congrats on your 1st trip!!! Yes, Bally's is perfect...location, cost, etc. You all can easily walk to several other casinos and the food options are great in that area.

Welcome to the board. Don't forget to figure in any resort fees into the rate you find.

Don't forget that the Rio offers a fee shuttle to the strip (I think it drops off at harrahs).

Paris which is connected by a walkway and PH which is the next resort down will provide all the clubbing you need quite close. Plenty of clubs near that location. Cosmo is also close and the current club king of LV.

I'd also check Treasure Island, they are having a good special right now if you join their "My TI Specials" (just sign up on-line if you go to their section for booking a room) you can get 45% off their regular rate right now. The rooms and hotel are nice there and the casino is easy to navigate and not dark (for the older folks). You can tram over to the Mirage easily from there and just a walk across the sky bridge for you girls to some great clubbing at Wynn and Encore.

First week of Oct is usually still pretty nice pool weather too.

Welcome to the board and have a great trip! Dino

Thanks everyone for your help. I just found a deal with Elara Hilton but I'm not sure about it yet. What's the scoop? How are the resort fees? Location doesn't seem too far and with the deal I just found...I might have to take it.

We stayed at Elara last year and were happy with our stay. It's a non gaming tower that is attached to the PH through the miracle mile shops. The location is good IMO, you just walk through the shops and you can get to the strip. I can't comment on resort fees because I don't remember if we paid any or not. I would pick Elara over CC, hands down.

To get the full Vegas effect, stay at a casino hotel. Bally's and TI are both good choices. TI is probably the nicer place, Bally's edges it out on location. I would not stay at Elara or any of those type places on a first trip. After you've been to LV once you will get the lay of the land a little bit and decide if you want to be back off the strip in one of the other places.

I know, I know, Elara probably isn't "that far", but there's nothing like being "On the Strip".

    .
I second that advice, don't cut your first trip ever short by staying off the strip.

    Ballys or Paris.

Will work out for everything you are asking for.

For a decent property in a great location with an emphasis on the party scene, I would definitely recommend Planet Hollywood over Bally's. I've stayed at both, and PH has a much hipper, livelier vibe.

2 shuttles. 1 stops at Harrahs. The other at Ballys.

I agree with the advice above.
First trip, stay on the Strip and stay in a casino.

The only other advice I would give is when you find what you like book it direct with hotel. Then keep looking for a better deal, you can always cancel if a better deal comes along.

I would stick with Bally's. The location is so much better. If you go with Rio, you will either spend more money on cabs or waste a lot of time waiting for the free shuttles.

Last time I went, I did use the free Rio shuttle ( went to Rio for dinner at the seafood buffet) that takes you to Bally's and I ended up waiting around for 45 minutes
