Is there any associated group of hotels downtown, as there is with Total Rewards or MLife hotels on the strip? On the strip I tend to gamble at Flamingo, but it's nice that I can use my points for comped rooms at Bally's.

I'm staying three nights downtown Aug 3 - 5 and thought if possible I might as well earn some points while I'm at it. Most likely I'll be doing the majority of my gambling at Golden Gate (love playing BJ there), but I'd like to stay somewhere with a half decent pool. My current thinking of where to stay is the Plaza as the new pool renos look nice, but I don't expect I'll be doing any gambling there, just don't like the ambience of the casino.

Any suggestions for alternatives downtown to Plaza for decent and affordable *clean* rooms, decent pool with some excitement (but not a crowded gong show like the Golden Nugget) are also welcomed!

Boyd group has a multi casino card (b connected). This is good for Fremont, MSS and Cal and you can also use it at other Boyd casinos in vegas.

No real tie to strip casinos. GG and D should be consolidated but aren't yet.

All other downtown casinos are basically independents (like El Cortez, 4 queens, Plaza and Binions) so no card ties.

Boyd is the only multi property club downtown. Derek Stevens, owner of the D and Golden Gate, has indicated when Las Vegas Club reopens they plan to have an integrated players club.

As for pools, Golden Nugget is tops. The Downtown Grand pool is a nice area but not on the Nugget's level.
