Joe's comment about the $5000 being won twice in the last six months and how he and his wife sometimes use one card got me thinking about this more. I sometimes play on my husband's card because it's to our advantage for him to have better offers. I still get an offer for a room but that is never used so it's a waste of points.

So the question. You have to be using your player's card to get a ticket for a quad. His card is in the machine and I hand the attendant mine. Over and on with. What if I scratched the $5000 card? Would it be voided because I wasn't using my own card in the machine?

After thinking about this last trip, I decided it wasn't worth calling for a scratch card unless I was really using my own card. I didn't want to test my own theory.

As with many questions posted on this board, you'll get plenty of answers and opinions here. The question is, are they the right answers? If you want the RIGHT one, you are going to have to get the answer from MSS itself. Can you imagine winning the $5k and them voiding your win for being a different card number than was in the machine, and you telling them "but xxxx from the VMB told me that it would be okay"?

When you get a 4ok, they come and look at your card, and write down the info, they dont ask for ID to see if you are the person who's card is in the machine. They also have you scratch it, but you dont get any money then, you have to take them to the cashier to get paid. So i would imagine even if you won a big one you would it would still be up to you to go get the money, Thus I think you would still get paid since you could always have your friend who's card it is cash it in.

Yes. My wife and I played on my card exclusively (i have 3 I think) and each time she hit a 4 oak they just looked at the third card (which sat between us) which was not in the machines being used. I don't know what they wrote down. But they would watch you initially scratch and then head off to do the same thing down the aisle. And you don't need your player's card to cash them in (you have 24 hours) so it must just be an accountability issue.

    Good luck.

The gaming board forced them to take more notes. They now have to mark the time of day, machine # and of course your name & player's number, as well as their employee ID. As Bubba mentioned, you do not need to show a card to cash them, but they really have cracked down on the 24 hr limit. They used to half heartily look at the date and there were times we forgot to cash a card and just slipped it in on the next trip. Not anymore. :nono:

Zingerly, I never take any answer here on any topic as the gospel, only as an opinion.

I've played at MSS for years so have weathered all these new rules that the gaming board has imposed on them. If an attendant fails to watch what is scratched, she can be suspended from pay for a week.

This is the first time that I didn't bother to call for a scratch card when not using my own card. I probably lost $20 because of this. I'd rather that than be refused a $5000 winner.

I have lots of quads with my own card that I can't collect on because I'm not playing all the lines. I often play 7 or 8 lines, max coin.

At the end of the day, the scratch card does not count towards my bottom line.

My gf always used my card at MSS for the scratch cards. They knew and didn't care. Bob dancer was using his wife's card in a machine at gvr when he hit the random 50k jumbo jackpot. They still paid him. I just hit a hand pay for 11k on my gf's card they didn't give it a second look. They just want your actual id. Im sure there is a gaming rule for it but what card you are using doesn't void a jackpot. When in doubt check the actual rules provided at the cage or players club for any promo.

I always assumed that as well. That they could void a jackpot cause of players card in. I can see em taking benefits from you.

On the employees waiting, the first scratch I ever got this year I thought she was waiting for a tip...

I dont get it, what are you talking about? They dont ask for your ID, ever, they ask for your players card, they dont ask if it's you. Have things changed?

This has nothing to do with the hundreds of daily cards that are scratched for $2 a $5. The staff don't care about these. IMO, they have to do too much already. They definitely don't have time to be double checking the card in the machine.

What I asked was "What if I scratched the $5000 card? Would it be voided because I wasn't using my own card in the machine? I believe it says you must have YOUR players card in the machine.

Having your players card inserted is part of the rules of this MSS game. That doesn't make it the same as winning a jackpot on another game of chance and using a different players card. The government only cares who was playing those games, players cards aren't a requirement for a payout.

Next time there, I will read the rules carefully. They're being forced by the Gaming Board to do all these other steps, who knows how they might handle the big jackpot prize.

I've never played VP at MSS so how exactly does this work? If I get a 4OAK do I have to press the attendant button and wait for one to come over before dealing my next hand, or does it automatically alert the staff to come over to you?

If you're at the bar you tell the bartender, if you're on the floor you signal a worker(either slot or server), those buttons that light up dont seem to get much response IMO.

OK, if you are very paranoid keep in mind they dont actually look at the card, all you do is scratch it, you can tell them anything(mumble $2). 2 bucks or $5000, you still have to take it to the window, I assume you are playing a card of someone who is actually in vegas.

Thanks Merlin. If I get down there to play it'll most likely be at the bar so that's good to know.

Actually the "change" button does go off in the office and they alert a card scratcher to the machine # via two way. It also turns on the light above the machine. If you've ever noticed the card person will put their card into a nearby machine and that alerts the office that card has been handed out.

Once in a great while I've had to wait quite a while for a card, but they are normally fairly quick.

No need to wait, here's the rules from the BConnected web.
    1. All cards must be redeemed within 24 hours.
    2. Reel slot players will receive one scratch card for every 300 or more coin
payout. Video Poker players receive one scratch card for any four-of-akind.
Wild cards do not qualify. Max coin play required.
    3. It is the player’s responsibility to contact a slot employee.
4 No scratch cards will be awarded after the fact. ALL wins must be
validated by a Slot Department employee to receive a scratch card.
    5. When the correct scratch process has occurred, the player must present
the winning card to the Casino Cage for redemption.
    6. The B Connected Card must be in play to receive a scratch card. On
redemption, the B Connected Card number must match the B Connected
account number written on the issued scratch card to be valid for
    redemption.
    7. A card is void if the pay area is tampered with.
    8. There are two separate sets of scratch cards. One for nickel slot players
and one set for those who choose to play quarter and or higher
    denominations.
    9. Scratch cards that are mutilated, altered, copied, hand printed, forged,
water damaged, manipulated, or tampered with in any way, or which
may contain any computer programming, printing, mechanical or
typographical errors, will be considered null and void and will not be
    eligible for prize redemption.
    10. Main Street Station employees and their immediate family and printing
company or individuals associated with this promotion are not eligible to
participate, or accept as a gratuity.

or pictures used for promotional purposes at Main Street Station’s sole
    discretion.

I find it interesting the rules say you get the scratch off for a 4oak, but in reality they give one for 4oak or better.

I don't play slots but I never knew you get a card for 300 points. I always thought they were just for VP.
Informative post TY and I've been going to MSS for 14 years.
