We don't go and see a lot of movies in the theater, usually just Netflix but we have gone two weeks in a row because we now qualify for the old farts discount.

Yesterday it was Don Jon. The reviews list this as a comedy and others list it as a comedy/drama. Rave reviews everywhere. I thought it sucked and no comedy involved.

Kudos to Scarlett Johansson for putting on a very believable Jersey accent, at least it sounded believable to me, the midwest guy. We just kept waiting for something to happen. It never did.

If this would have been a Netflix movie at home, it would have been ejected after 40 minutes, but we had to finish our popcorn!

One other review: The Family. We saw that last week. Violent, but funny also. DeNiro as a mobster, how can you not like it?

Speaking of mobsters, my wife has started her Thursday night bowling league, so I get to watch movies I like on Thursday night. In preparation for my Vegas trip in a week, I've watched Casino & Goodfellas so far. Next up Thurs is The Cooler. I have the 4 dvd collection of The Godfather, but I might be close to wearing that out from playing it so many times!

I've got to say Joe Pesci plays one of a hell of a mob guy in both Casino and Goodfellas.

I realize movie reviews are just like restaurant reviews. Everyone has different tastes and opinions of movies, just throwing mine out there.

    Uh oh, I think I just did a sco5123 type posting.:peace:

I have The Cooler and have been meaning to watch it forever and never gotten around to it. the worst part is on the rare occasion I actually want to sit down to watch a movie, I keep forgetting I have it and just get another on demand movie. I need to watch it!

    Go see Gravity.

Seriously, you won't regret it, its a movie made for the theater. I saw it in 2-d instead of 3-d.

It's a very actiony sci-fi film, almost sci-horror at some parts. The beginning 30 seconds or so were boring, but after that it was pure adrenaline, almost like a sci-fi movie on crack.

We were up in the Dells last week, and saw "the Family", I liked it, the wife didn't. $5 matinees, we should have gone to a movie everyday, but we both had the coughin', spitten flu all week.
