    My Trip Report

Well, this seems to be a common theme lately...lose my ass in Vegas, come home and win at the local casinos.

I went to one of my locals, Morongo, today with the intent to pick up a free mystery gift. Once I arrived there, I decided to run a couple hundo through the high limit slots. I do not consider myself a big slot player, although I do consider myself fairly lucky with slots. Hit and run is my usual strategy.

I walk up to the first $25 DD machine and stick a hundo in...tito out $150. I stick a hundo in the $25 DD machine next to the previous one...tito out $150. I then stick $200 in the $100 machine at end of the bank...tito out $500. So now I am 3 for 3 on the HL slots, up $400 and am ready to go pick up my gift and get the hell out!

On the way out of HL Slots, I walked past a couple new $1 slots with big screens and Playboy Bunnies on them. Of course I need to give this a shot. I look at the max bet and it is $27...WTF?! Who comes up with these odd numbered multiline slots? Anyways, I stick a hundo in and hit a few small winners and got it up to $380-something. Normally, I would cash out, but there was something that was drawing me in. There is a free game feature, which activates when you get 3 Free Game symbols. Well, I kept getting two symbols, but the third just kept playing hard to get. Now, the machine got me hooked and I am now in chase mode trying to get this stupid free game feature. After losing the $380-something, and then feedig another $400, I finally hit the Free Game feature. It is very rare for me to chase on a slot, except for the occassional penny slot. I ended up getting 15 free spins or so and the credits started adding up a couple hundred at a time...yes, money back! Finally, near the end of the free spins, I got 7 Quick Hit symbols on the screen, which paid one of the middle jackpots, worth somewhere in the $5000's...Hell yeah, I needed that after my loss at Mandalay Bay! This is the final handpay amount after the free spins completed...

    I'll take it!

Oh, while waiting for my handpay, I decided to play some $1 DDB. I ended up losing $100, but I got this close to my first Royal...

    So close, yet so far!

Oh, I forgot to mention...I completely forgot to pick up my free gift while I was there...lol. I guess some distractions are good.

Yeah, I rarely go there myself, but I am a sucker for free casino gifts...lol. you are spot on about the players there. Morongo and San Manuel are my least favorite local spots.

sindustry....I swear, I don't know how you do it - but keep it going!
The fact that you can stick $100 in a $25 machine and get something to hit that quick leaves me in awe.
Your discipline to walk away after those mini hits is impressive - it keeps the bankroll growing!

All I know is if we're in Vegas at the same time in the future - I'm having you pick my machines, for a commission of course!

I have never seen anyone win that much at a SoCal casino. Most of those places have the most horrible vibe. I remember once going to Fantasy Springs and admiring the lengths they went to to make it nice, and then stepping into the casino and being smacked in the face with desperation. In the pre-Tito days you could spot the worst gamblers by their coin-stained hands. The only non-Nevada Casino I've been to with a decent feel is Talking Stick in AZ.

I think your mystery gift was a hand pay. :)

Lol...most of the time, I will play one or two machines for one or two spins and get nothing. My recent trip to MB had about a dozen separate visits to their HL slot room over 2 days and never got a single hit...not even an even money payout. Probably lost $2000 on their slots that trip. Thinking back, on that trip, I probably would have been better off playing $2000 on one machine...or not at all...lol.

But yeah, I usually just take stabs at slots, except for the occassional slots with a bonus features that end up pulling me in.

Of the local casinos near me (within one hour or so), Pechanga, Pala, and Rincon, have the better vibes. All the others within this distance are depressing and/or ghetto. With regards to winning at the locals, I do see way more hand pays here than in Vegas. While at MB last weekend, I did not see anyone get a handpay in their HL room. I know there were some, they just never happened while I was in there. At Pechanga, I always see multiple handpays each time I walk through the HL room. Granted, Pechanga's HL room is much larger than Mandalay Bay's

Lol...that's what it ended up being, but in reality, it most likely would have been $5 in free play. I always get the lowest value gift when they do these kinds of promotions..."Come in for your free gift, it could be worth up to $1000!"

I have to second the observation regarding the vibe at Rincon. Of all the SoCal joints, it feels the most "Vegas-y" to me...
