I know a lot of people HATE the topic of kids in Vegas but we have to go through Vegas for a funeral and were considering Monte Carlo. Just wondering if anyone has had experience? We took kids once to Mirage and it was fine, but I wanted to get some feedback before considering. Ages are 4-14.

It's fine during the day and at night you're probably fine as long as your older kid doesn't sneak out. Lots of hookers and drug dealers in the wee hours. The pool is great for kids.

Yeah, great pool area for kids with a lazy river and wave pool in addition to the regular pool. My daughter also enjoyed the daily Blue Man parade through the casino floor. Decent kid-friendly food offerings in the food court, too.

No more daily blue man group parade. That stopped quite a while ago.

Keep in mind all the Arena construction. Your only option to walk directly to the strip is through the casino as the walkway outside is blocked (what used to be called Rue de Monte Carlo is now Park Drive). It will be a great place with all the trees and walkways, better than the dusty old parking lot between NYNY and MC, but it isn't ready yet.

Monte Carlo is a quiet, somewhat dignified property. Like a cheap Bellagio. The rooms are also small. I wouldn't bring children there. Go to Excalibur.

Our friends stayed at the MC while we stayed at a timeshare a few years ago. They had 2 rooms with the parents in one room and the four kids in the other. At the time I think the kids' ages were maybe 4-12 or so. I don't think they had any problems. We got into the pool area but I preferred the one at the timeshare resort. My (and my kids') personal preference for Vegas with kids is the Orleans, which seems to take the existence of kids in stride, more so than strip casinos anyway.

    1. Don't apologize for how you want to vacation.

    2. What most others said about MC is accurate. Kids will like the pool. Rooms are simple and average at best. Cheap food options.

We have stayed at Monte Carlo quite a few times over the years and there are always a fair number of families staying there.

It looks like my first thought was the same that everybody else had: its got a nice (and big) pool area with a lazy river, and then there is the food court with lots of cheap and basic dining options.

Beyond that there probably isn't too much else to do there: the shopping area is pretty small, there is no video arcade and the casino is sprawling so it pretty much touches almost ever part of the resort except the lobby, food court and pool area.

But NYNY is next door and they have an arcade and there are things to see in the area that'll interest them like the M&M store and the Coke store and such.

YW. Some of the info there (particularly prices) may be a bit out of date. I should probably update it.

I can't say enough good things about the new children's museum. It's really great and will keep your kids busy for a day, if they don't insist on going back a second day. I don't know if the 14 year old will like it but probably all the others will.
Also, if the MC pool gets too crowded, you could try one of the county's public pools, such as Desert Breeze. They have water slides and splash playgrounds, and are really nice. This is made easier with a car or van.

How about the Hilton Garden Inn? They do have hotels with pools off the strip you know.
