I guess they gave up until they do the major "secret" renovation and rebranding of this fine establishment. I checked in last night and chose a room at the end of the hallway to avoid the center hub partiers. Given that I'm here for 14 nights I wanted a quiet room so I have a room on a high floor ending in number 35, last room, no connecting doorway either.

Since I like to read my iPad in bed I tried to connect to the wifi. There is none. Zip. Nada. An occasional sniff of some signal from Hotel 32 but it wouldn't stay connected. So I called and the lady explained they don't have wifi anymore in the guest rooms, just hard wired Ethernet!

Sweet! I also travel with a little teeny wifi router. A TP Link about 2 inches square. Hooked it up, typed in the password and I'm connected!

Don't remember what I paid for this but it has been very handy.

This is your travel tip of the day!

I always had bad luck with the wifi at Monte Carlo. The TP Link sounds like a good idea. How much was it? Where can they be found?

We just got back and we stayed in Hotel 32. Wi-Fi there was very nice. Pay the extra to stay at hotel 32 you wont regret it, promise.

The last two times I stayed there they didn't even claim to have wifi in the rooms. They told me if you get a room on their lowest floor you can pick up the free public wifi from the Street of Dreams Starbucks. No thanks!

When I was there in December I was told they were going to have WiFi by this spring sometime... who knows if this will actually happen. Weird thing was on the 16th floor I was able to get WiFi during my stay, maybe they are testing it out on some floors...

We were there last September and were actually able to connect to the hotel wifi on the 9th floor.
