I'm 90% sure I'm going to Vegas for Christmas. Airfare ain't the best but that's okay. I'm trying to be somewhat frugal. In other words top tier hotel is out. I prefer center strip rather than over by MGM, Mandalay Bay. If money was not the issue I would be staying at Bellagio for the first time, done Wynncore a few times, Venetian/Palazzo. I'd like to stay at a place I've never stayed at though. Hotels.com has:

Monte Carlo for $64 a night avg.
    TI for $68
    FYI - Bellagio is $177

TI has better location in terms of dinner at Wynn and Venetian, overall I like that location. Monte Carlo has the tram to Aria/Bellagio and I can walk to MGM/NYNY if I want to and I can get to Paris too.

TI seems darker to me. Monte Carlo has the Pub for a night light beer. I've heard TI has bad food selections but other food is close by.

Thoughts on the rooms? I'm probably leaning towards Monte Carlo because when I've walked through the casino it "felt" better to me, I don't like dark casinos. Any other suggestions? I've been at Bally's, Paris, PH when it was Alladin. Also PH, Paris, Flamingo are $30 to $50 a night more. I've never done downtown but I'd like to stay where I know and I think my first downtown stay will be in the future. I haven't "gotten" downtown yet so I'm working on that for the future, i.e. separate issue.

Anyway thoughts on Monte Carlo vs. TI for the holidays.

    Thanks!

I just spoke to a friend who has stayed at Monte Carlo, Bally's and is frugal, not picky also. I asked him to compare Bally's to Monte Carlo and he called it a dump.

I'm trying to justify Bellagio for $400 more, lol.

Given the choice of those two, I would likely pick Monte Carlo. The few times I've stayed there I've enjoyed it: room was comfortable although not luxurious, I really like the brew pub and the food court is convenient for a quick snack. Had good service there too.

I haven't stayed at TI, but I have stayed at MC and I enjoyed it. Rooms were nice and the bed was great.

I actually won some money there too!

I'd do Monte Carlo. Both are similar.. but TI has gotten weird since it isn't part of MGM anymore. I like that MC is connected to CityCenter, and I just generally prefer south strip.

Also the resort fee is $20 at MC and $25 at TI so save a little bit there.

If you aren't picky there are some good rates at PH

    https://www.harrahs.com/hotel-reservations/default.aspx?packageCode=IMRT1&propcode=PHV&view=ratecal&clickid=wQZ2XgVQ9SAQT-TWIz14SVjfUkRwE0UZUUEiyQ0&iradid=2060&irpid=10160&rd=AFF&aff=aff

About the same if not a little less, and no resort fee.

Also I know you said you don't want MGM, but again less money, and it's a new remodeled rooms, unlike the extremely outdated ones at MC and TI (My parents actually booked this for their Xmas trip)

Go look around on smartervegas.com some rates are better than what you posted.

    I've stayed at both.

Comparing the two basic rooms, the beds & pillows are great in the T.I.

Either are places can work. I prefer the location of the T.I.

I'd stay in either one depending on the offer and my plans for the trip.

I would assume the OP has already been to LV and is back home since the original post was Dec. 5th.

You really can't go wrong with either place, IMHO.
