Booking this room category through MLife will save me $10/night vs booking a King/2 Queens specifically. But I do definitely need 2 Queens. How likely am I to have any issues at check-in? I do have MLife Gold and my experience is that MC treats Golds quite well...

I have no idea, but if you definitely need 2 queens, I don't see how you could risk it. That being said, there are no guarantees of room type even if you book 2 queens to begin with so I say, roll the dice.

Unless they're extremely busy and your room type is exhausted, you should be okay. As previously mentioned, rooms are assigned at check-in.

If you definitely need a room with 2 queens it seems like a brilliant idea to go with run of the house, especially considering the savings for your group.

If room77.com is correct, almost 1/2 the rooms at Monte Carlo are 2 queens - 1 side of each wing, basically. That's a much higher ratio than any other hotel I know of. So you're probably OK going with run of house.
