Totally shocked by my e-mail this morning. I got an e-mail from a host at Monte Carlo inviting me on a 7 day cruise on Royal Caribbean's Allure of the Seas (one of the newest ships) on April 13-20.

I haven't stayed at Monte Carlo for 20 years. I did drop a bit in there when I was in Vegas in November. I have no other offers for the Monte Carlo - well, that I'm aware of. So I have no clue why I got this offer.

    Anyone else?

Do you have a large ADT at MGM owned casinos? I've gotten mail from them talking about a cruise but I'm pretty sure it wasn't comped.

I guess - but certainly not with Monte Carlo. I checked and the cheapest stateroom you can get on this particular cruise is like $2,400, and that's for an inside stateroom. The comped M Life cruises do outside staterooms. Those are currently going for $3,300.

I mean giving those amounts in comps is one thing - where they stand a chance of getting your bankroll - but to just give me a cruise to thank me for my patronage - wow!

Yes, here is the text from the e-mail:

We are set to sail on the Allure, RC, from April 13-20, 2014. I'd like to personally invite you and a guest to meet us in Ft. Lauderdale to set sail to the Caribbean.

The cruise is on us as appreciation to your patronage. During the cruise I'd like to invite you to join me for a dinner party along with a full week of ocean relaxation as a personal thank you.

Please contact me directly as soon as possible to reserve your cruise as space is limited. I hope to hear from you soon.

Thanks. Yes, it's for me and a guest. I wish I could do it, but I work at a nursery (plants not babies) and taking vacations in the spring is not really allowed. That's why I never go to Vegas in April.

Oh well, it's still pretty cool to get this offer - even if I can't use it.

Great offer - Allure is probably my favorite ship (have been on 4 RC cruises).

I would guess this is from other MGM play.

And, this seems a bit different than the cruise certificates that people often get.

Lots of people get the offer and many can not, or will not take them up on it.

They are hoping they get people to come spend lots of money.

It's not. This is entirely different from the Platinum cruise. I know that for a fact as I already have that booked for August :)

Then this is most likely a host or exec trying to lure you to play exclusively at MC.

Risky move on their part :) I mean if they give you a really good offer (rooms, food ,free play) and you low play them - your future offers will be affected.

If I took this cruise offer and never walked in the door of Monte Carlo again - it wouldn't affect my offers at all.

My last free cruise came in at about $3,000.

    Just sayin.

Well, actually I'm a Business Analyst at a large wholesale nursery, so I'm not a seasonal worker.

Yes, the cruise is free. But you have to pay taxes and gratuities, which I would put at about $200-300, then airfare and hotel, as it's not a good idea to fly in the same day of the cruise. Then factor in the gambling budget. I'd say the $3,000 cost of Nostresshere's last free cruise would be conservative :)

These host sponsored cruise offers are awesome. Great rooms and the last one we did our host came along and covered all the alcohol too. This is not like the Platinum/Noir cruises where you get the cruise and off you go with no one else from MGM. On this cruise, you will most likely have other MGM players to gamble and party with. Fun! The biggest issue is the max limits at the tables are like the minimum limits at Aria on a Saturday night.

This is a great perk for sure.

Hope your bosses can offer you the vacation time.

I'm always already platinum at the beginning of the year - I've never hit it mid-year, so I can't answer that. But, it's easy enough to find out. If you have recently hit platinum - just call 800-762-0702 and give them your M Life number and they can tell you what you qualify for. I could get a 4-5 night Bahamas or Caribbean cruise - or $750 towards any cruise. But I think some were only eligible for a 3 night cruise - and like $350 towards a different cruise.
