    My Trip Report

Momma said there’d be days like this…(Dec 13-16)

Momma said there’d be days like this…(Dec 13-16)

If you go to Vegas enough times you’re going to have one trip where you feel like Chevy Chase in Vegas Vacation; and, you hear the that infamous phrase “You don't know when to quit, do ya Griswold?... Here's an idea: Why don't you give me half the money your were gonna to bet, then we'll go out back, I'll kick you in the nuts, and we'll call it a day! “

Our flight out of SeaTac was delayed an hour and 46 minutes because of a wheel that had to be replaced. It wouldn’t have taken that long but the maintenance crew forgot the jack and had to go back to wherever they came from and find one. Once we landed in Vegas we were picked up by Presidential Limo and off to Bally’s. The room was ready when we checked in so all was good. We like to stay at either Bally’s or Paris when we go in December, because they are center strip and close (relatively speaking) to other casinos. We also like that Bally’s and Paris are connected so that if the weather is bad we’ve got two casinos to gamble in without going outside.

    Gambling

We only played slots and JOB VP. I wanted to play some BJ, rapid roulette, and enter a poker tourney but the tables were full when I wanted to play. The first day we went to the MGM. We (my wife and I) played a Monkeys slot that we found. We lost $40.00 but we did get to the bonus round and got to sing the Monkeys theme song. Though we had fun I don’t think the people around us enjoyed our karaoke version. We played slots at Mirage and though we played for 4 hours we left down over $100. We played a majority of time at Bally’s and Paris my wife played her favorite slot Goldfish. Though she played it a lot she still probably left several hundred dollars in its coffer. I played VP JOB at Bally’s, Paris, and Planet Ho and had nothing to show for it. It was sad. I played a total of 6 hours for the three days and never it anything other than several three of a kind and two pair. We did play a new slot called Star Trek. It was interesting but even hitting the bonus I think we left down $60.00. The only luck we had was at Bill’s car wash. We played eBay and the first time we quit up 5.00 (Yeah). We went back our last night and the strangest thing happened. We were playing EBay and after putting in 40 we were down to 15 when the community bonus hit. We were up to 53 and trying to decide if we should cash out or not when the community bonus hit again. Now, were up to $72 and we’re still deciding if we should play it down to $60 or cash out when it hit again. Now we’re up to $93 and we haven’t spun the reels since the first community bonus hit. We were also the only ones playing the game. We cashed out. We put another $30 in but didn’t hit anything. We left Bill’s a winner. This was the only casino we left with more money in our pockets than when we got there. I made some parlay bets and straight bets on Sunday’s football games. Lost every single one of them. We usually don’t leave Vegas a winner but we do leave with a good deal of our gambling budget intact. This time we lost most of what we took to gamble with.

    Food

We ate at Earl of Sandwich in Planet Ho. It wasn’t that great; and, if we’re hungry and in Planet Ho again we’ll look for something else.

We ate at the Sterling Brunch at Bally’s. They’ve increased the price to $85 a person. You do get all the champagne(and it is champagne and not sparking wine) that you can drink and the food is good. They had small lobsters halved, caviar, filet mignon medallions, duck done in a wine sauce, fresh sushi, omelets to order, prime rib, ham, blackened Mahi Mahi, shrimp, crab legs, waffles, breakfast burritos that had spicy sausage, peppers, pepper jack cheese, very tasty. The also had a desert bar that had mini chocolate brownies dipped in dark chocolate on a stick. Our drinks we always refilled and several times we hadn’t even finished when they were refilled. Our plates were removed and fresh silverware and napkins were placed when we were up getting more food. I don’t know if I can recommend the Sterling Brunch because of the cost. I’m sure there are better places to spend $85 per person to eat. We just love the fact that we are never rushed; the service is top notch, and the food and champagne is good. Now, that Harrah’s is allowing you to get points for every dollar spent I probably got more play for this than in the casino.

We ate a Le Burger Brassier in Paris. We’ve eaten here several times and have never had a bad burger. They’ve always been favorable and juicy. The only problem we had was with the specialty drink my wife ordered. They had changed the receipt and it definitely not what was shown or described.

We ordered room service several times. When you’re tired, hungry, and drunk room service is always good; and, it’s better to lay in bed waiting for food than be asked to leave the café because you’re laying on the chairs, table, or floor waiting for food.

We ate at Burger King one night because we were drunk and it was there. Perfect drunk food.

We ate at Margaritaville our last day. I had the Volcano nachos and a couple of Bahama Mamas. My wife had the peel and eat shrimp and several Bahama Mamas. I ate about half of the nachos….they seemed a lot bigger this time than the last time I had them.

    Drink Service

Initially drink service was slow everywhere we were; however, once we started tipping the drinks kept coming. The only problem was getting that first drink. If we moved to a different part of the casino we might have to wait 30 or more minutes to get that first drink. I noticed at Bill’s that it didn’t seem as though anyone was tipping the girls so it took awhile for us to get drink service; once we started tipping we had drinks stacking up.

    Things overheard & Final thoughts

“I need to find someplace where they know how to play poker. These “F’ers, are nothing but a bunch of F’ing bluffers and don’t know how to play poker.†Overheard in the men’s room at Bally’s.

“I miss you too baby. I wish you were here. You want me to touch myself where? Okay, yeah, oooh, I miss you.â€
My wife overheard that in the bathroom at Paris. She coughed, made noise, but, it didn’t seem to phase the girl in the stall next to her.

“I’m not going to tip you for a coffee because you were too slow getting it to me.†I heard this at Bally’s at the Goldfish game. I wanted to tell the woman to get off her fat ass next time she wanted a drink and waddle up to the coffee shop.

Bally’s and Paris seemed to be hopping while we were there. It was the final day of the NFR and the table limits were as low as $5 with the max bet $5000. There was a convention of fair association that came in Monday. So the tables and poker area was packed and the Goldfish slots and Star Trek slots were full.

It did snow while we were there; just not on the strip. We missed the big snow storm by about 16 hours but came home to snow and cold weather. Even though we lost most of our money we had a great time. I don’t think we’ve laughed so much in a while. We had a great time and we’ve already got reservations in June.

I couldn’t believe that people weren’t tipping the cocktail waitresses. If you can afford to gamble you can afford to tip the girls or guys who are bringing you a drink.

I saw less children this time than last year maybe the economy and weather had something to do with it. I will still say that Vegas really isn’t the place to bring children to on vacation.

Nice TR! I'm going to look for these new Star Trek slots on my next trip. Did you see them at every casino?

That lying bitch! The whole time she said she was in her hotel room when all along she was in a Paris bathroom stall! She does give good phone sex, though.

    Seriously, nice read.

DBear, we saw the Star Trek slots in Paris, Bally's, Bill's, and Mirage. I didn't see them in the MGM but then we didn't cover the whole casino. I also don't recall seeing them in the Flamingo or Osheas. If you do play the game and get to the bonus select the one where you beam down to the surface. It seemed to pay off better.

Jack, you gotta tell your girl if she's going to give phone sex she needs to go in the men's room so we can enjoy it as well. Seriously, though, ladies if you feel the need do it in the room.

blackjacknut, We go to Vegas to have fun with no illusion of winning lots of money. We play mostly penny slots so even if we win it's not a trip changing event. We always have fun in Vegas and until that stops we will continue to go.
