    My Trip Report

After Not Soberfest last year, I told my buddy Dustin about most of the fun that was had. His only words were, “When in March are we going?!” But, alas, it was not meant to be and he ended up having to cancel his ticket after his bosses at work did him over. So with that, I set off on my third solo in eleven Vegas trips.

    Tuesday
This trip starts off just a bit different as I have my buddy, co-worker and former Vegas compatriot, Rocky, pick me up in the morning and worked with him throughout the day. Unfortunately for me, I’d had trouble sleeping the previous two nights and had a total of 8 hours of sleep heading into work that day. He drops me off about 4:45pm at the airport, but I find the Allegiant counter wasn’t manned just yet. After about half an hour, the staff appeared and check-in was a snap. I get my boarding paper (couldn’t call the print out they gave us a pass) and head off for the gate. Quickly through security, and I grab some dinner at Ruby Tuesdays inside the terminal. First beer of the trip, and I send off a text message to make sure some folks know it. After dinner, I load up at the vending machine with some drinks and make my way to the gate.

Boarding goes fairly quickly as those who reserved seats get to board first, something for me to remember in the future. I make my way to my exit row seat, 25A, and get my first win of the trip, a huge amount of room between rows. I. Am. In. Love. The flight was fairly uneventful except for the flight attendants that offered up a “lottery” for any of the passengers who felt like participating. One dollar, with you seat number written on it tossed into a trash bag and you were entered. The lady sitting behind me ended up winning this. Lucky girl. I try to catch up on a little sleep, but to no avail. A quick four hours later and we land in paradise a few minutes early.

I get to the baggage carousel and my bag is one of the first few off. Score! I move on over to the side and call Kikky who had offered me a ride to the hotel. Thanks Becky! We meet up and make our way to the parking garage where she had waiting beers in a cooler. We hop into the Kikkymobile and we’re off to the Imperial Palace.

We make our way to the check-in counter where the masses are waiting. I see the Emperor’s Club check-in has only 2 people in it and, since Beach Crazy (Angy) got us the hook up with the rooms, I was able to bypass the line, and piss off the masses. Becky takes off for Harrahs to cash in some chips and I head on up to room 17102.

It looks like a recently remodeled room, complete with a balcony, and I was impressed. Thanks again to Angy! No time to wait as the adrenaline kicks in and I’m wide-awake, so I change clothes and head on down to the casino.

I get a call after a few minutes from JoeVegas (Rich) and we decide to meet over at one of the bars. He buys us a round of drinks (thanks Rich!) and we talk like we’ve known each other for years. I tell him that Sticky and Mikey were suppose to be over at the Mirage lighting up the poker tables, so we head on over to see them. We finally find them fighting the good fight against a few Ohio State fans, and Mikey volleys some smack talk toward us rail birds. Rich and I move over the sports book where we can watch Sticky and Mikey’s table while we enjoy a few adult beverages. Every few hands, one of the two of the poker players would come up and join in on the conversation. Rich starts to hit the wall after being up for over 24 hours and decides to head back to the Imperial Palace about 2AM. I sit and converse on and off with Mikey and Sticky as they take a few breaks from the poker action. I finally decide to head back about 3AM inching my way toward that magically 24-hour mark myself. I make a stop at Harrah’s and drop a $20 in a $1 Top Dollar machine, just knowing that I can hit a bonus round. Sure enough, on the third spin, I hit the bonus round for $40 to make me up for the day. Finally, I head off to bed.

    Wednesday
I am awoken to a text message from Marty to “Wake up Bitches!” Very subtle. My reply, “F U!” I give him a call back and give him an update on the previous evening’s festivities and tell him he needs to come out early. I soon get a message from Becky that she is going to pick up Angy and then take her booze shopping. I volunteer my services and tell Becky to call me when they get Angy checked in. I hop in the shower and get myself ready then head down to the casino and saddle up to a blackjack machine. Soon after, the waitress comes by and I order up the breakfast of champions, beer. I must admit, so far I have very impressed with cocktail service at the Imperial Palace, even though they only serve domestic beer at the slot machines. I run through my $20 buy in and head off to find another adventure. I find the craps table at a $5 limit, but the vibe wasn’t right for me so I didn’t buy in. I notice that they are opening up another Pai Gow table, so I go on over and buy in for $100. The dealer was real fun, as was her relief, but I am suddenly alarmed by 5 voicemails from my cell phone. Low and behold, I get several strange messages from Marty from the previous night along with a message from Becky that they were checking Angy in. I cash out of Pai Gow down a bit and head over to find Angy and Becky still at check in. I resist the urge to walk up behind them and grab a handful of ass, but settle on hugs all around and we are soon on our way to the penthouse. It’s a great room with quite a bit of space to have, dare I say it, a party. After her luggage arrives and the poor bellman has his hernia put back into place, we’re off for the booze run.

We make our way out to the liquor store (I should say warehouse) and load 3 buggies full of alcoholic goodness. I leave a voice mail for my buddy Dustin, telling him about just how ungodly big this place was, only to get a sad reply from him later. Next time buddy… next time. We head off to a local eatery that Becky has discovered and have a nice lunch. I don’t recall the name of the place, but the food was very good. Our next stop is the grocery store to load up on the mixers and other things that were just too expensive to get at the liquor store. We pile back in and get a call from Sin. Some how, she is able to come in today if she can get on an earlier flight so we head over to Becky’s apartment and change Sin’s flight from Thursday to later that night.

Back to the Imperial Palace, where we “sneak” the luggage cart full of alcoholic goodness with the help of the bellhop up to the penthouse. We unpack the goodies and part ways as Angy was going to dinner with Mikey and Doug, so I head back down to the casino.

I saddled up to the Pai Gow and end up grinding out a small loss, then head over to the craps pit and proceed to take a pounding on their $5 table. Just brutal. With the beating I just took fresh in my mind, I head back over to the blackjack machines and grind out a small gain until I get a call from Patti that her and Angy were up in their room. I lose connection on the phone after she just started screaming bloody murder on the phone, so I figure I might want to go see what all the excitement was about. On the way, I run across Rich who was running up a nice gain on a video poker machine. I grab him and we head on up to the penthouse.

We arrive at the penthouse and can hear the commotion from outside. I beat on the door and announce that it’s the Vegas PD. Patti opens the door and greets me with a big hug and an explanation that Sin had arrived while she had me on the phone, which is why she was screaming. Along with Patti and Sin, Larry was saddled up to the bar with Angy being the bartender. Introductions are made, and we try our best to drink the bar dry. Good times. After several hours of penthouse buffoonery and our own mini party, the idea to order a pizza was hatched and room service is called. While we wait, we keep getting updates on the status of the planes for Jer and John (Coaster Hubby). We find out that Jer has landed and he is invited to come on up, not knowing that Sin came in early. The pizza arrives, followed by Jer. Jer informs us that John and Becky went their separate ways, so they weren’t going to be joining us. Even more buffoonery is had, but it is time to move the party over to O’Sheas while Angy and Jer go ahead to Paris to get him checked in

The invasion continues as we find that O’Sheas now offers pool tables. In our drunken state, this sounds like a fun idea. It’s girls against boys, with the ladies taking the first game, but me sinking the eight ball to win game 2 after Rich plays pools shark for the guys. The rubber match is canceled as Larry informs up that we need to go to the penthouse at Paris.

We make our way up to 32nd floor in Paris, and find out Jer hit the jackpot when he checked in. It turns out they had given away his booked suite and they upgraded him to a “Nice” suite to make up for it. Very good score Jer! We all run around checking out this incredible room. Patti, Larry and myself are checking out the master bath, where, it sounded like, Larry decided to relieve himself in the water closet. The next thing we hear is a whoosh and Larry coming out of the water closet with a wet forehead. It seems he was playing with the bidet (I still say he was taking a piss) and hit the button that controls it, shooting water directly on his forehead. Nice! Everyone comes running in with some of the ladies fighting to have a turn on the bidet, until they notice the jacuzzi tub and start filling it up. The next thing I know, one of them gets very close to taking a bath with her clothes on. With the fun drained out of this room, we all move back into the living area and realize that we are missing something… drinks.

We decide it’s time for more drinks, so we head down to the hooker bar. Rich buys us all a round (thanks Rich!) and Al and Marty get the classic drunken phone calls. Larry announces that he’s never been to the Frontier, so we all decide to head down there. We pile into a couple of cabs and are on our way.

While at the Frontier, we take over the horse racing game and more rounds of drinks are ordered. The quarters start running low so we head over to check out the tables situation. Jer and Angy sit down and play a $10 pitch game. Larry finds the roulette table followed by Sin and Patti, then soon me. I squeak out a small gain, and notice Jer over at the craps table. I move on over there, but a $10 table isn’t in my price range, so I just watch. Larry soon moves over and the boys hold their own for awhile. Sin comes over and decides to play some as well. I notice that Angy is up from her blackjack table and has moved over to the bar talking to a “working girl.” The morning is starting to come upon us and Rich calls it a night. Patti joins in on the craps fun while Angy and I sit over at the bar and watch. She starts getting tired and decides she wants to call it a night as well. The rest of our group decided to hit Ellis Island for some grub, but Angy and I head back to the Imperial Palace and call it a night.

    Thursday
After about 5 hours of sleep, I’m back up and around. I make a few phone calls to check out the day’s game plan then head down to the Teahouse for some grub. I had a huge turkey sandwich along with fries and it was all that I could do to eat most of it. I head out and find a $5 craps table and proceed to lose $80 in a short amount of time. I head on over to the cage to cash out my big whopping $20 in chips and run into Silversmiff (John.) I bring him up to speed on the past few nights and he tells me he’s been trying to play catch up with his drinking. We head over and find some blackjack machines and run through some money as well as drinks. I give a shout to Larry who is taking the ladies over to In-N-Out, then to Marty who was just getting in. We make plans with Marty to meet up when him, Al and Terry arrive. We then proceed to find other games, all being in the negative direction for me while SS John keeps winning. We head on up to the penthouse thinking that everyone should be back from the burger run by then.

We arrive and find the ladies getting ready for the night. Angy has a surprise for me in the form of a “Security” shirt so her bodyguard can work in style. Thanks Angy! I head on down to my room via the casino and run into Marty on his way up. I ran up to my room to change clothes then found the “secret” bank of elevators that led up to the penthouse floor on my way back. I find Marty already there as well as Terry and Al. The eight of us head down and it is decided that we should make our way to Main Street Station in true March Madness style, a limo. Boy, was that ever a sight to see. After an interesting ride, we arrive at Main Street Station and back to the Pullman Grille where I meet our host for the evening, Eric, for the first time. Along with him are Tonya, Becky and Coaster Hubby (John). Hugs and laughter all around (I swear we were shushed several times) and SS John gets his payback to Larry from NSF, a Shirley Temple. Being the trooper he is, Larry drank it right down with no trouble and, I believe, without retaliation. The ole boy must be slipping. Great food along with great friends and great service. Eric offers up his comps to cover part of the bill (thanks Eric!) and he, Terry, Patti, Sin, Al, and Becky head off to Don Rickles show. We make our way out to the casino where Rich gives me a call, so I tell him to come on down and join the fun. I begin to watch the Volunteers just fall apart to the Buckeyes as Falcon Rob walks up, followed soon after by Rich. Finally, UT loses to OSU in a nail biter and we move on over to the Plaza. Jer and SS John are at the craps table so Marty and I buy in as well. We’re doing half way decent, then Jer gets the dice and has a nice roll that included a point of six. I look at him and ask “Hey Jer, ya got a hard six on ya?” He just grins and I toss a two way bet on the hard six. Damn if he didn’t hit it. He finally sevens out a few rolls later with me at a modest gain. Jer takes off and the girl that was beside him gets a roll. She hits the point of 8 and I look at Marty and ask him if I should ask her is she had a hard eight in her. The next roll, a 7. I guess not. SS John is up next and, seeing how drunk he was, Marty and I were a bit apprehensive in putting any money down. We should have listened to ourselves and bet the dark side as SS John had the UGLIEST rolls I’ve ever seen and sevens out fairly quickly. Marty was up next and had a decent roll and making us some money until he sevened out. He starts packing up his money and I give him hell for trying to bail on me before my roll. He stays in and is thankful that he did. I had some good rolls, hitting several hard ways and making us both some bread until I eventually sevened out. I cashed out up $160 so I was a happy camper.

About this time, Mikey, Sticky, Big Stogie (George), Big Tips (Marlisha), and Sammi show up. After some interesting conversations, excitement, and laughter, I notice Mikey and Jer back on craps, Marty and I buy back in, but the table is nice and cold, so I pull out down $70. While we are playing Snert (Corey) finally arrives. We all head over to the Vegas Club where Patti and Corey decide to play some blackjack. The rest of us move on over to Binion’s and they set us up on a 3-6 private table. From seat 1 over it is Jer, Rich, Marty, me, Al, Rob, Sticky, Mikey, George, Sammi, then Terry. We get to playing and someone mentions that Angy and Sin are riding the mechanical bull, and not doing a good job of it. I guess Angy’s bodyguard let her down this evening.

Soon after, I start catching hell from Terry about my lack of alcohol on the table so he orders up Patron for me, but this is Binion’s, so they bring their “finest” tequila. Down the hatch is goes and good judgement goes right out the window. I decide to stop my drinking after I got back from the rest room, played several hands, but didn’t notice that Terry had ordered me up a refill while I was gone. I passed the love on to Al who tossed it down with no problems other than the after taste of lighter fluid.

As for the poker game, I do recall bluffing my way to a couple of wins, and also taking a hunk out of Al’s chips with a flush. Al put up a good fight, but he finally succumbed to the poker gods and was put out with Corey taking his place. With Al gone, my chips start to dwindle and I get a nudge from Marty that he wants to grab some food. Sounds good to me, so we grab Patti and Jer and make our way back toward the Imperial Palace by way of Paris to drop Jer off.

We head on up to the Teahouse and soon see Terry come straggling in as well. I order the Big Deal breakfast and offer to drink the syrup straight up for anyone willing to pay me. (Yes, I was that drunk.) With no takers, I dive into my breakfast with the occasional drink from Patti’s beer to Terry’s amazement. Great company with good food makes this yet another enjoyable dining experience. Marty and Terry decide to call it a night, but Patti and I hit the slots and video poker and squeak out a small win. We head back to the penthouse and find Mikey, Sticky, Al, and Angy all dancing and having a good time. We sit around yucking it up until the sun comes up with Mikey asleep on Angy’s bed. Al and I decide to call it a day, and I notice he has someone’s room key… obviously plotting his revenge from the crustacean incident from the year before. I’m off to my room and out like a light.

    Friday
I’m up again after few hours of sleep and get the call that several have already made their way up to the penthouse, so off I go to meet them. When I get there, Marty, Jer, Terry, Sin, and Patti are sitting around recounting the previous evening’s encounters. Angy, so I’m told, didn’t ever go to sleep the night before, and had just went to bed herself a few minutes earlier. We sit around shooting the shit for awhile when Al shows up. Well, low and behold he and Marty were wearing the same T-shirts (Mikey’s) along with khaki shorts. Needless to say, a few jokes were made at their expense. Larry, CH John, and Corey show up soon after, and the party queen herself even pokes her head out of her door as well. The ladies start to freshen up for the evening, while the rest of us raid the bar. Somewhere in here, Al snuck off and changed clothes rather that face the continuous ridicule of being Marty’s twin. Finally, someone says something about food, and plans begin to be hatched as to where to go to get our grub on. Mikey shows up about this point with some snacks and ice for the party. The room is cleaned up and the decision on Maggiano’s is made so Patti, Sin, Terry, Marty, Corey, Al, and I make our way to the Fashion Show Mall. Larry and Jer decide to head to the sports book to catch the day’s tourney games while CH John heads over to Treasure Island to meet up with Becky.

We make the walk to the Fashion Show Mall and Marty does his best to get us a table without a reservation. They find it hard to say no to a huge man wearing a skull and crossbones T-shirt. We’re seated and look over the choices. The waiter suggests that we order from the family menu where you share 2 salad choices, 3 entrees, and 2 desserts. This sounds like a good idea so we ordered up a pile of food. Side note: I would tell you what we ordered, but I have no idea what was ordered. Great food and great company make this a perfect meal. Chef (Andy) gives us a call and offers us a ride back to the hotel so Marty, Sin, Patti, and I head out to meet Andy, while Corey, Terry, and Al decide to hoof it back to the Imperial Palace instead. We meet up with Andy and make our way back to the hotel. Patti, Sin and I head on up while Marty rides with Andy to the parking garage.

    Party time…
We make our entrance and the party is in full swing. I introduce myself to the notorious DonD, who was without his wife Jennifer (wish you could have made it Jennifer, but we completely understand.) Tonya’s sitting over in a chair watching the UNLV basketball game so I go over and make some conversation with her. I see Doug at the bar and head over and introduce myself. About this time, it is noticed by the powers that be that I am walking around without a drink so Angy offers to make me one up. I tell her to surprise me as long as it doesn’t have soda in it. She doesn’t want to do that, so I say, make it the Captain on ice. Well, she pours me a Terry shot into the cup and it is on. I finally get to introduce myself to Big Stogie (George). Buddy, you need to post that Vegas story about your grandfather on the board. Beautiful… Just Beautiful. About this time Angy comes over and grabs me to head in and meet Drea and her boyfriend Aaron. After the introductions, I sneak off so not to interrupt the conversation they were having with 3cats (Tammy.) To my fuzzy recollection, this is the point where Terry handed out the Patron shots in the shot glasses he had made up. Nice work buddy. I over here the original six from the first March Madness toss back and toast, and I toss mine back as well. I head back over and reload my Captain on the rocks.

This is the point where things start getting very fuzzy for me. I know there are a few more conversations with people at this point, but I seriously couldn’t tell you who with or what was talked about. Back inside I go and Drea pulls me over to the couch with her and Aaron. We have a long conversation about our dads, reminiscing about all the good times we both had with our fathers. I’m secure in myself enough to say some tears were shared, and it wasn’t just the booze working on us, but the memories of some great men. ‘Nuff said. At least twice during our conversation Patti comes over with a shot of Jaeger and has me down that. It was all downhill from there. From this point, I became a casualty of the party war. I wouldn’t consider it a derailment (as I had heard someone else had done in the other bedroom), but it wasn’t pretty either. Thank God for these great friends that I have that watched over and checked up on me during that, even if I did throw things at them. It took quite awhile for me to straighten up enough to rejoin the party, but, when I went back in, the party was breaking up and we moved the things down to the casino.

I was in no shape to play any games, so I started out watching Angy, Marty and Patti play blackjack. I moved over to the poker room where Sticky, Jer, Larry, Corey, Sammi and lord knows who else were playing. They invited me in to play, but I just had to pass as I could barely stand up straight, and I am not even sure I was doing that right. After a good while of watching, I finally decided to let the booze win, so I called it a night around 2:30.

I hate to leave anyone out that I did meet at the party, but I know most of you understand the shape we were all in and the effect that the alcohol had on us. I also know there were a lot of people there that I never got to meet or didn’t get to talk to for long, and I do apologize for doing so.

    Saturday
    Ugh…
I wake up at 8:30am and just can’t go back to sleep. I lay around, but finally get ready for the day and head off with Marty for some breakfast/lunch around noon. We hit the Teahouse again and I have my Vegas original, the Philly Cheese Steak. This time, the food was just OK and the service was very slow. We finish up and make our way over to the poker tourney. One of the highlights was Sin and Larry’s entrance, with Larry leading her into the poker room on a leash. She buys into the tournament with the words “I am here to buy in for my King and I.” I just had to laugh.

I have to admit that I pretty much suck at poker and was hoping to fold myself to a third to last place finish to avoid the Strippers Direct to You shirt, or the free IP buffet pass. I lasted a bit longer than that, but was knocked out by poor play from myself.

I continue watching the tournament when I hear Mikey holler “Scott, Angy needs you to get the birds out of her room!” Um, OK. It seems she woke up that morning, went into the living room where Sin and Patti must have eaten breakfast and found some birds had flown in through the open sliding glass doors sitting there helping themselves to breakfast. I head on up and knock on the door, but Angy has locked herself in the bathroom. I call her to open the door, but she’s too afraid of the birds. Since I can’t help get rid of them from the outside, she finally realizes that I have to be inside to do anything about the problem and comes out of her room to let me in. Low and behold, the birds are gone, most likely scared back outside from Angy’s panic. I sit with her in the room until she finally calms down. I tell her to come with me to the tournament and watch the ending, but she says I need to curl her hair for her, and well, I’m not a beautician, so she’s on her own there. Knowing that she’s in better spirits now, I head back down to the tourney to find it down to the final 4 and the other have opened up a 2-4 table right behind them.

I’ll save the details, but I end up snatching Larry’s video camera to try and document the final three. It’s down to the final 2 of Doug and Eric, and the end comes quick as Eric took the win. Congrats buddy!

A lot of the excitement moves over to the 2-4 table now and I observe it until Terry pulls up stakes and I buy his chips off of him. At one point, I took a nice win off of Larry and tell him to get a T-shirt that says “Scott’s Bitch” on it. Her returns the favor the next hand and takes back most of his chips, which I reply, OK, maybe I need on that says ‘Larry’s Bitch’ on it. The next hand, Larry take a decent win off of Al, and I tell Al I’ll let him have my “Larry’s Bitch” shirt. Good stuff. The end comes for me when I thought I had a good hand, but once again Larry takes the pot and tosses a nice barb my way. The table laughs and changes it’s tune quickly as I hop up out of my chair and walk Larry’s direction. Sin jumps in front of me and I pick her up and move her to the side. The tension mounts and I fall to one knee, lower my head and say, “I am yours, my King” to a round of laughter.

I finish watching the game and, once it starts breaking up, CH John, Patti, Sin and I take off for Treasure Island to meet Becky to head out for dinner at Table 34. We head out in the Kikkymobile toward the airport where the restaurant is located. The food here is very good as I get a tomato and basil pizza. Good food and great friends make up the highlight of this dining experience. We head on back to the Imperial Palace, but end up side tracked to Harrahs due to construction. Becky lets the rest of us out, where we head back up to the room to chill out for a bit. While going through the casino, we see Marty and SS John lighting it up at the craps table. We wish them luck and make our way back to the penthouse. We hang out for awhile here until Marty and SS John show up to recall their craps victory. SS john decides that he’s not done winning and heads back to the casino followed soon after by CH john who has an early flight the next morning. The rest of us hang out in the room drinking and wait for Marty’s buddy Trevor to arrive from the airport. We head on down to Marty’s room to check out his digs and are soon introduced to his buddy.

We all pile into a cab and head down to the Plaza to get some gambling in. Marty, Sin, Patti and I saddle up to the craps table where we have one of the rudest dealers that I’ve ever seen. I know a little bit about playing craps and don’t take to highly to someone trying to tell me proper chip etiquette during my roll, especially in a start up joint such as the Plaza. After Patti and Sin both have rolled, and Sin getting back to about even, we shake the heat from the casino off of ourselves and head out. We get a call from Al that they are at Hogs and Heifers, so we make our way over there.

We arrive and I tell the bouncer that Trevor is only 18 and he needs to check his ID. He lets him go on through, but cards me instead. I get a good laugh out of it, and so do the others as I walk in. Here, I meet JoeSchmo (Mike) who is with Angy, Al and Drea. Drinks all around and Marty and I try to get the ladies to dance on the bar top, but they all find an excuse not to. Doc asks me if being at Hogs and Heifers makes me feel like home, with my only response being, “Nope, my sister’s not here.” Drea and I have a classic conversation about “family histories”, with us both in full on hillbilly mode. Considering I all ways screw up her name by calling her Dre (like Doctor Dre), I come away with her hillbilly name of Bobby Jo. We have an enjoyable time, but the place is to quiet for this type of bar, so we move the party to the El Cortez for some gambling. Marty, Patti, Sin, Trevor, and Mike take over a $5 blackjack table while Al, Angy, Drea, and I head over to Careful Kitty’s for some grub. I’m not really hungry, but I manage ½ a stack of pancake, but the highlight is the great conversations amongst the four of us. We are in stitches with the stories we tell, and, I consider, a nice highlight of the trip even with Al continuously busting my chops with South jokes. Al picks up the tab (thanks buddy!) and we head over to the rest of the group and tell them that we’re heading back as Drea and Angy are tuckered out from all of the fun that was had. We walk over to the Fitzgerald and catch a cab back to the Imperial Palace where we drop Al off on his floor and I head up with the ladies to the penthouse. We sit around telling more stories for awhile, until Drea and Angy fade off to sleep and I make my way back to my room to call it a night.

    Sunday
After another four hour sleep fest and discovering a slight tickle in my throat, it’s time to head back up to the penthouse. I find Angy already awake with Sin lying on the couch. Al was in a holding pattern waiting on his flight, so we all piled onto the loungers outside chatting for awhile. Al takes off and the girls get ready for the day. We head downtown to meet DonD and Jennifer at Main Street Station. We decide to head over to the Upper Deck for dinner, and Don and Jennifer excuse themselves for a few minutes. We arrive for dinner and DonD and Jennifer come up later with Paul Utell, a host for the Vegas Club, who offers us $70 for dinner. Once again, it is a good dinner with great company (Thanks Don!) Once our bellies are full, we all head over to the Golden Nugget and meet at the bar with George, Marlisha, Sammi, Corey, and Mikey. After a round or two of drinks courtesy of Marty, several of us, including Jennifer, Don, Marty, Marlisha, George Stogie, Mikey, Corey, and I head over to Binion’s for poker. I get some nice hands and took some money from Mikey, but Marty was too strong and just about cleaned me out.

Marty, Corey and I move over to Vegas Club where Patti is holding her own at the blackjack table with Sin giving her backrubs. Marty buys in and ends up double downing on a $300 bet and winning. A few more plays and he cashes out for $1100, but the Vegas Club shows no love for the banana chip, paying Marty with 2 $500 chips instead. We say goodbye to Corey and head back to the Imperial Palace to find his buddy Trevor still sacked out on Marty’s couch. We try to get him to go with us for some late night food action, but he refuses having just finished his room service meal. Sin, Patti, Marty, and I cab it over to Ellis Island for late night dinner with me still fighting the cold bug and getting grouchy. We discover there is about a 30-minute wait for a table, so we entertain ourselves with the fingernails on the chalkboard sounds coming from the lounge where they are doing Karaoke. I glance in to see what’s going on inside and there is a guy singing “The Monster Mash” with his buddy dancing around him with flashing glasses. It. Was. Horrendous. They finished up and started high fiving each other like it was the Super Bowl or something. Patti and Sin were talking to the security guard who said they get the same people in there all the time to sing. I can only imagine why. Marty volunteers to sing as well, but there are seven others ahead of him, so it didn’t look likely. Finally, our number is called in the restaurant and we head in for our late night snack. I order the steak special and Marty gets some good-natured ribbing time from the waiter for ordering pancakes. The food was very good and the company even better, especially when Patti and Sin’s security guard came over to our table and told Marty that he was next for Karaoke. Fear and Panic crossed Marty’s face, OK not really, but we had to coax him into doing it again. He got up there and did such a great job with Johnny Cash’s “Ring of Fire” that he got a standing ovation from our table when he returned. Even with the embarrassment of performing Karaoke in the Ellis Island lounge, Marty still picked up the check (thanks again buddy!) Finally we catch a cab back to the Imperial Palace and call it a night after saying our good byes to Marty since he was leaving in the morning.

I’m still fighting the bug, but a shot of Jack Daniels helps out somewhat. I check out and head up to the penthouse to meet the girls and Larry. Larry takes off to get his stuff, and Angy and Sin surf the board with their cell phones to check out what everyone is saying so far about the trip. Larry returns and says his good byes, and makes Patti cry, as he heads off to his photography convention. The bellman arrives and piles all of our bags and coolers onto his cart and the realization that the trip is coming to and end starts to sink in. Sin, Patti (who cries again) and I say our good byes to Angy who stays behind, waiting on Mikey to come by to pick up the remaining booze, and take her to the airport. The ladies and myself head across the street for a meet up with Mike (JoeSchmo) and some of the LV Talk crowd who are in town. I get to meet Norm and Mark from that board and the ladies and I have great fun recalling the previous few day’s experiences. The mini-meet starts to break up and Norm offers us a ride to the Peppermill so that we can grab something to eat.

We arrive at the Peppermill courtesy of Norm and head in. I order a Tostado Omelet which was very good, but like many have said before, was just too much food to finish. I believe Patti was the only one able to finish all of her meal consisting of oatmeal and a yogurt dish while Sin limped in with her bacon and eggs. Once again, a very good meal along with great friends makes this an excellent dining experience.

We head over to Walgreens to pick up some cough drops and eye drops for Patti and myself as our colds are really starting to work overtime on us. We make our way back up the Strip to the Imperial Palace where we meet up with Becky who is picking up her part of the booze allotment as well as taking Patti and myself to the airport later. Sin had made plans to meet up with Tonya from here, so more good byes are said, and Patti cries once more. We head over to Harrahs to put our bags in Becky’s vehicle and she takes off for home to change while Patti and myself head on down to Hooters to meet her friend Greg.

We make it down to Hooters and Patti introduces me to Greg the beer snob who is playing video poker at the bar. It seems he is having a nice run at Hooters as he hits four aces with a low card kicker to the tune of 2000 quarters and tells us that they have a feature at that bar where people who get four of a kind get a bonus. Once each number is hit, the bonus goes up, and that number is removed from the bonus. He had hit the quad 9’s earlier, leaving only the quad 8’s remaining. About this time, Becky arrives and I notice that it is near time for me to head toward the airport. I say goodbye to Patti, who, yes, you guessed it, cries. Becky and I head out to the parking garage and on to the airport. No one in line at the Allegiant counter and I make my way to gate D5, power up the laptop and surf the board until about 15 minutes before flight time. I send a text message to Patti asking where she was at, as she was suppose to head to the airport and hour after I did and just happened to be boarding at gate D11. I got a call back from her saying that she was just getting into the security line and was headed my way as they announced that priority boarding was beginning for my flight. I wait a few more minutes, then general boarding commences, but still no sign of Patti. I call her back and she tells me that she is on the train to the terminal then one of us loses our signal. I wait a few more minutes, then the last few of the general boarders are in line and I have to board the plane, missing her by a mere minutes. She calls me as I sit down in my seat and we have a good laugh as she says she came running up the escalator and through the terminal yelling “Marco! Marco!” and one of the last boarders to my flight replied “Polo! Polo!” I can only imagine what a great story and ending to this trip it would have been if only she could have gotten through security 5 minutes sooner.

After an uneventful flight to Knoxville where I typed up the rest of this trip report, I head on home for a few hours rest and called it a trip.

    Final words
I truly enjoyed meeting everyone, not only at the party, but also at the little events outside of the mass group dynamic. There were several people that I didn’t get to spend much, if any, time with and I regret that immensely. I consider myself lucky to know you all and I smile knowing that I cemented even deeper friendships with many, and started up many new friendships with others from this board. I know there are a lot of people out there that just don’t get the whole “Internet Friends” idea, but I do not consider any of these people “Internet Friends,” I am extremely happy to call them friends.

Very nice write-up Shock! I'm really going to have to try Maggiano's sometime, perhaps when my parents come to visit or some other occasion. The more TR's I read, the more I regret not calling in sick Friday night and skipping out on work! I won't make that mistake again next year!

Finally, a man who will admit he lost money gambling. I get so tired of people saying "I broke even" or "I won a little" when in fact they lost their a$$. If everybody who went to Vegas actually "won a little" like they say they did, Vegas would be broke.

Mr. Shock, I salute you sir! :nworthy: And kudos on your honesty.

Great trip report Scott! I'm surprised though, for a guy that went down early you remember more about the party than I do :poke:

Seriously, it was great to finally meet you, we had a great time and are looking forward to doing it again.

Xizor, I'll tell you straight up, I lost my ass...was down to 1/2 of my bankroll by the end of the 1st full day. Luckily I managed to coast to a finish without going any deeper, if anything, maybe got a little of it back.

Hey partner not only did u get us sick u also stole my TR
I did get to personally witness Larry being "bedayed" as I like to call it. A shot of gushing water in the middle of his forehead, a stumble backwards followed by a WTF and the best facial expression one has ever seen = priceless. I have never seen anything so funny in my life. The sound effects coming from the sink courtesy of Shock just added to the moment.

Great times, great friends and an agreement to buy shares in kleenex for next year if I am there as we know the stock will go up.

There's nothing like passing a dull day at work then reading a really good TR. Birds in the room? what type of birds were they? With the amount of alcohol consumed in the suite it's a wonder they weren't turkey buzzards looking for a dead MMIVer.:drunk:
