Wonder if anyone can help answer this mlife versus promo code question I have.

I have been to Vegas several times and have always stayed at MGM or The Hotel.

I booked a promo code for The Hotel for end of Sep. It's an ok price but not as good as last year's $70 a night deal. Anyway, I am assuming I am a bit early and there will be another promo soon. Hoping to get the $70 deal.

Anyway, I finally decided to sign up for Mlife. I don't gamble much at all, but figured I would give it a try this time since I seem to always end up at MGM properties. I am signed up but haven't even picked up my card yet.

If I log in I see some offers already. The offer for The Hotel beats my promo price by about $70 total. Better price, but not as good as $70 a night.

So can I call The Hotel and tell them I now have Mlife. Do they re-book under the Mlife program, or do I have to cancel, and book through Mlife online? What happens if I then get a promo code for $70 a night Do I have to cancel Mlife and rebook?

Would you book through Mlife, or just wait it out for a promo code? Is there any advantage to booking through Mlife even if it is higher?? Points etc?

Thanks for any help. Still new to this Mlife stuff.

From my perspective, there is no benefit to booking through M-life. For our upcoming trip, we initially booked through M-life. However, we just stumbled across a promo code that provided us with about $70 in savings over a three night trip, so we booked that promo code and canceled the reservation we made through M-Life.

For your specfic situation, I would book the M-life rate and cancel the promo reservation. If you get a better rate with a subsequent promo, you can always book it and cancel your M-life reservation.

Book the best rate available now.
Cancel and rebook if you see another rate online.

I always book best rate now, and then cancel and rebook if something better comes along.

I always assume that a request to change a reservation is more likely to get messed up somehow than starting a new one and canceling an old one (getting a confirmation number for both).

Curious... where did you get promo code? Public site or was it emailed to you?

AS long as you're not booking through a 3rd party, you should be able to get Tier Credits for your hotel rate.

If you book through MLife either on the website or by phone, your MLife account should automatically be associated with your reservation.

If you book on the hotel's web site using a promo code, you'll need to give them your Mlife account info when you check in.

Promo was emailed to me. I get a lot of them from Mandalay since I have stayed there before. In fact they already has my info when I called.

Thanks for all the info. I think I'll book through Mlife and see what happens.

Seems strange they have your info, but you say you did not have an mlife account? Maybe an old Players Club account?

Mlife sends promo codes, but mainly after you start gambling and they start figuring out where you spend your money. Honestly, I'm the lowest level, and i go 6 times a year, and still the deals aren't that great, well not better than anything I can just google and find.

I just look everywhere and find the best deal. Smartervegas.com is usually a good starting point :) make sure you register there as some of the deals are unlisted.

With all the promo code rates they are cancelable, and you can call if you find a better one and tell them and they will match it for you. We've done that before.

I doubt MLIFE will give you any better offers until a month or two after your next trip and the computers and algorithims analyze your play and spit out some offers.

No, never had a players card in my life. I booked with them last year and that's why they had my info.

This is what I normally do. I thought maybe getting Mlife (even at low levels of play) might give me something. Doesn't look that way.

The facebook deal last year blew away any deal through smartervegas or email promotions. It was some 48 hour sale.

My guess, and only my guess, but...

If you are mlife, they now KNOW your level of gambling and will provide offers based on that.

If you are not an mlife member, they will make offers with hopes that you will become a gambler, therefore better deals.

Interesting. I hope don't stop getting the promo codes I receive now... otherwise that would be terrible!!

Just received a new promo code that beats what my mlife offer was.

    FYI
