Silly question but I am about 3000 points shy of gold and have family member staying at MGM in september
Could I give him my card to attach to his room to get the points from his stay somehow
Also can I give it to him to use for points when dining at MGM props
He is not a gamblers at all so I would not get any points from him that way
    Thanks

Since the room will be in HIS name with HIS credit card, that part if not gonna work.

Dining - maybe, if he pays cash. But, the number of points you get is low - I think.

You could front him some gambling money and get a few points. He will not gamble at all?

They could always try, but you always run the risk of them matching the name on your card with their name.

I wouldn't do this though. If it does actually work, then MLife thinks you are in Vegas gambling. If they see you there and you don't gamble a bit, that may reduce your offers in the future.

The only benefit gold has is the buffet line pass and the free room upgrades that seem to never happen for me. You aren't suddenly going to be getting better offers when you become gold.

This is exatly correct in every way. Your offers don't get better with Gold but they do get worse with no gambling on a trip. I have a gold card and I rarely if ever see a benefit except for VIP check-in, which I can get my host to give me anyway (it's an easy comp for a host, because it costs exactly nothing.)

    Thanks for the responses
I just hate being so close to gold with them dropping our tier points on oct 1
I might actually get the points from checking in with topguest and if I'm close I'll give him some cash and my card
And when I mean he won't gamble i mean his gambling budget is around 20 dollars (high roller I tell ya)
    Thanks

As said, the reduction in ADT will cost you, possibly plenty.

On the other hand, a few casinos have been built with $20 non-gamblers. (after they gambled more and more and more....lol)

You are correct, it would have to be cash - but the amount of points is actually quite high (at least according to MLife literature) at 25 tier credits per dollar spent.

Therefore, if you need 3000 credits that would be $120, not a completely unreasonable amount. Combine it with a few Topguest checkins and it's definitely doable.

I don't think I got tier credits for eating...am I supposed to do something special? That would have been like 7500 credits for a meal at Craft...I think I'd have noticed that.

Well, you have to give your MLife card with your payment, but that's about it (from what I've seen at the bar, the same machine reads the MLife card and your credit card). I've gotten TCs from dining before, and they've actually clarified their FAQ in a way that for once is pretty clear explicit:

Many people just think somehow this is automatic.

In reality, it take some doing. Like giving them your (or friends) Mlife card. Then the staff has to run in through the system. Then the system has to be working.

Well I guess I whiffed on a bunch of tier points. I'll get them next time. Shame, for a $250 meal.
