Ok, from Beeejay's thread and the email he received about tier point accrual and expiration, let's see if I have this right. Mlife started around January of 2011. They sent me a gold card then because they apparently gave me some credit (around 83,000) for a November 2010 trip when it was still Players Club. In April of 2011 I racked up about 163,000 tier points which put me at 246,000 and I got my platinum card.

My next Vegas trip was February of this year and the first set of points fell off leaving me at 163,000 to start that trip, but still platinum until April since it is good from one year of earning that level. On the Feb trip I earned another 158,000 which put me at 324,000, but after April it was obviously back down to 158,000 when the prior trip fell off after one year.

So does that mean when the February trip put me back up over the 200,000 mark that I will be Platinum until Feb 2013? Or did I lose it in April due to the fact that it is good for one year and now I am back under 200,000 tier credits?

I guess to me it sounds like they do tier levels on a rolling basis as opposed to CET and their calendar year to hit each level. If that's the case I don't think it will be a problem for me to maintain platinum. I hope this makes sense and I apologize for all my #s thrown out that might make this post confusing.

you need to earn another 200k TCs each year to keep it. since you got Platinum in April 11 and didn't earn 200k TCs between April 11 and April 12, you likely have dropped to gold. you don't get extended another just because at the end of your Feb trip you had 324k. that would make it too easy to keep it year after year. but nobody knows exactly what they do.

edit: so Beeejay got some info from a slot host at the B that contradicts this. she says that it's rolling so any trip that you reach over the threshold it extends your expiration for another year. so if that's true you would be Plat until Feb 13.

It is 8:19 as I read this. Even though I am not in a casino, I think I need to find a drink - SOON!

Your date will update anytime you have enough tier points for your current level and you earn a tier point.

So you still need to earn 200k tier points within a 12 month period, but your next 12 month period doesn't start when one ends. They can overlap. Earning 200k between Mar 2011 and Feb 2012, and then earning 200k from Dec 2011 and Nov 2012 means you will have platinum through Nov 2013. Your new 12 months doesn't just start on March 2013.

There is one other minor thing that affects when it occurs. Points don't expire on the exact date you earned 1 year later. They only expire at the end of the month. While I have no proof, I'm guessing if you have a trip from March 28th through April 4th, some of those points will expire March 31st 2013, and the rest will expire April 30th 2013.

I did notice that my points from April 2011 didn't expire until May even though my trip was at the beginning of April.

Whether it is strict 12 months or rolling it won't make a huge difference to me as I will still be Platinum either way. It is just a matter of the comps that you accrue based on your level. Since I am at 158,000 I was not sure if the Express Comps & Point Play will accrue at Gold levels until I hit Platinum level again or if it is a rolling calculation I would still be Platinum and earning comps based on that level. I know it is a very minor difference, but it is annoying that most people at MGM don't know the actual answer.
