I'm currently planning my trip for next fall. I'm hoping to get the room mostly comped through MyVegas and/or offers, but wanted to go ahead and book a room now just to have a base rate to work with for budgeting and such.

Anyway, I was working on a reservation through mlife.com and when it came to finalize it looked like it was going to charge my card the entire amount now, and it said nothing about the cancellation policy. Does someone know if your card is charged for the whole stay at the time of reservation? If so, I'll hold off as I really don't want to have that much sitting on my card for several months when I'm hoping not to have to use that reservation at all.

It's usually charged a first night security deposit.

Yea it's the first night. Unless it says non-refundable, then they charge it all at once.

The Mlife site is ridiculously hard to work with haha.

Just call to set up, don't do it online. If you call at least you can check your offers that may not be on the website. Just call the hotel you are wanting to stay at and ask for VIP Services. Anything I have ever set up with them was fully refundable and I was never charged until I showed up.

I would never book a reservation through the MLife web site. I'm Platinum and the rates I get offered are never as good as what you can get with publicly available promo codes.

Go to smartervegas.com or the Hotel Offers thread on this website and see if there's any promos that cover your dates.

If not, either wait a few months, call the hotel or use the hotel's web site to book.
