I don't understand why the floor can be so nasty to players. They know in the long run that things are going to go in their favor so why does a place like Aria sweat a little positive player variance? I was playing Craps on Sunday night and hand a pretty nice run for a couple hours. I was up about 10xs my buy in and it was time for my wife to go to bed. I took her up to the room, knowing I was going to go back to the same table I was playing because I liked the crew and was having a good time. So I cam e back down and asked the boss what he had me rated and he was very pissy. He first asked me what I bought in for and then what I cashed out for. His next comment after I responded was "So what does it matter you made good money." I then said I would just like to know. He told me and that was that. I had already re-bought in and had money on the felt, but as soon as the 7 came up I colored and went to another table. I just felt like he didn't want my action anymore so I moved on. My luck continued for another hour or so. It was a great night other than that little exchange. Why be an ass? He doesn't know if that win got me to even, made me money or covered a portion of my losses. It got me to a little on the plus side for the trip, but what does that even matter. I am a Platinum member at MLife and come out 3 - 4 times a year. My room is typically covered, but not much else. A small win or even a decent win is going to go back to their coffers at some point. I just don't get the attitude. I like to be treated well and nice accommodations, I know I'm a small fish bu no need to be rude. That's all, I think I just wanted to vent.
And, no matter what he "told you", who knows what he put in the system. Why don't they realize that happy gamblers keep them employed.
He doesn't get credit if you eventually lose and give it all back at some point, but he sure as hell has to sweat every little loss. It could have been a rough night for that pit - not justifying it, but I have a family member in the business and the stories I've heard about wins/losses are absolutely insane. There's just no rational thinking when it comes to losses for the table games in the casino - it's never just "hey, players got lucky". Nope, somebody must have done something wrong. Of course nobody gets credit when the casino cleans up...haha.
Hopefully you get a survey from your stay. If so, make sure you let them know. Be specific with dates and times.
I've seen ONE casino manager that didnt. he was on graveyard crew too (so he couldnt do "that" much damage) I literally only played during his shift because he actually comped me fairly.
I didn't realize that they would sweat the smaller players as well. If you don't mind, I'd be extremely eager to hear any of the stories you've heard. Pretty sure I wouldn't be the only one.
It's the one thing that's annoying with table games. Same bets, same buy-in, same time played, different results. I actually once tweeted about how I earned one lousy tier credit and a week later the table games manager messaged me her contact number. Work was crazy so I never got to make that call to have her look into it, but I wish I did. Water under the bridge, but I will call that number if it happens again. I'm slowly drifting to places that value my play, even if it means driving further.
You have to remember, floor people are the laziest of the lazy. They are the ones that wanted to stop dealing, and just sit around and collect a check. Some of them are nice people, but there are a lot of sour grapes out there. Most (not all) hate being asked to do anything, let alone being asked a thing like what they had your avg bet as. This is a real pet peeve they have that I know they hate because they get asked it all the time. The money is going back INTO THE CASINO COFFERS, but not the floor guys. He couldn't care less, and some don't care about customer service. I just count on my host to ask those questions, and if there are any discrepancies I tell him to get surveillance and look at the avg bet, if you are betting high. I always ask hosts, because hosts want to know this information, and make sure it is accurate.
Craps is mostly the only table game I play, and 95% of the box men and women I've come across have been either really nice or at least professional. But there's definitely a few that LOVE to screw players.
I do think that dealing with the general public day in and day out gets the Pit Bosses and even the Dealers to the point where they despise the players..... I know, that isn't a justification, but I simply couldn't do their job. Imagine every shift watching and listening to groups of idiots hootin' and hollerin' all night long. I can understand the darkside (and subsequent evil wishes) to working the pits. I think that hoping that the players lose almost becomes a sport to some of them....... Nick
You did the right thing by switching tables. Hate when the vibe goes south. I've noticed a change in top floor management attitudes lately at MGM props, I think they are getting some crazy oversight by MGM corporate.
