I have a trip coming up in about a week so after reading all this talk about Spring Offers popping up on Mlife, I decided to log into my account to see what they had to offer. All I get are pages upon pages of nothing but Website Rate and Tier Discount Rate; both prices are higher than regular web prices Then I see off in the corner MGM SPRING OFFERS. I click on it and it lists basically every MGM property and tells me to phone into each hotel's reservation line to check rates. So I decided what the heck, I'll just go down the list and see if any of these clowns can offer me anything cheaper than what I can find on the web. So after about 5 properties that quoted me basically what I can find on my own, I hit the last property on the list; Mandalay Bay. I give the phone rep my Mlife number and date of trip, and immediately they tell me that instead of paying the discount rate, I can use the comp they have in their system to book a SUITE for fri-sun, with $200 food and beverage, and $100 freeplay. Naturally I told them "BOOK IT!" Now you're probably wondering, "What's the big deal?" Well, I've probably only gambled about a total of $100 at an MGM property during the past year.... and i've NEVER stepped foot inside Mandalay Bay. Every single MGM property I called told me I only had a (laughable) discount rate available and then Mandalay Bay comes out with this? So... I'm trying to figure out what happened here. I'm hoping you experts will chime in.
