I just started traveling to Vegas about 2x a month for work. I used to play at harrahs properties mostly.

When I did play somewhere else, it was for poker at Bellagio.

Anyhow, I started taking breaks from poker and walking out to play blackjack to kill time. I like those tables so much better than anywhere else I've played in Vegas.

I got a card and started bouncing around the various mlife properties. I even managed to draw the attention of a host at one of the lower cost properties. Never had a host before.

Recently I had a decent night. Or what I thought was good. I was rated for 6 hours at about $100 per hand and made $10k tier credits. I've seen people say they've earned 10x that over a few days. Either I'm playing super low or somebody else has a better way of earning tier credits.

Sadly, I just learned their year ends this month so I've only locked in pearl.

What do I need to do to earn tier credits quicker? I'd like to make good or platinum as soon as I can.

Real simple. Either gamble more and/or spend more at mlife properties. Either spend more time gambling or raise your average bet. Also, start asking how you are rated. Try to make sure you are rated properly.

Little off subject, but why are you anxious to reach platinum?

I know getting platinum at mlife is like having a rewards card from your local grocery store.

A buddy and I have a bet on who will get there first. Winner gets a dollar.

Games like blackjack, craps and baccarat won't earn you tier credits too quickly. Why? You just don't lose that much money (theoretically) in those games. With BJ, the house advantage can be as low as two tenths of a percent. With craps and bac, the HA is a little higher, but those games are played very slowly, so the results are similar - very small losses (in relation to total $ wagered). Since comps are based on your theoretical loss, it's no surprise that casinos won't reward your play very generously at these types of games.

So, if earning credits more quickly is your goal, you can either bet more, play longer or play a game with a higher house advantage, like roulette or slots.

But unless you enjoy those games more than BJ, it would be silly to switch. The additional amount that you would lose would be significantly more than the extra comps you'd get and the additional (supposed) benefits you'd get by reaching a higher tier level.

I'm not concerned about comps. Just tier credits. I guess earning 10k tier credits a day isn't bad playing blackjack.

It doesn't take long at all to get to gold, you can get credit for shows, rooms and dining so you don't have to rely on just gambling. The card doesn't mean all that much. The line pass for buffets or taxis is nice though. I'd rather have the comps.

    As I stated, comps don't matter. It's about a $1 bet.

I play poker and generally win at that but I don't get much in tier credits for that.

fun. you can win that dollar and it will only cost you $8k, theoretically. could cost you a lot more or a lot less depending on your luck.

There isn't really any secret or quick and easy way to earn TCs...

The big thing is that you get 25 TCs per dollar spent for hotel, amenities and dining. If you are going for a three night trip that can add up fast if nothing is comped, IE: 3 nights at $150/nt, $100/day for food, $100 for drinks and $100 for some show tickets and then a few things from the gift shop and that can be something like 25,000 TCs right there.

Beyond that the only other "secret" is slots: slot players rack up a lot of TCs because their games have a higher house edge and then generally tend to play longer...

Like $100 a hand at blackjack is nothing to balk at, but the casino is probably figuring it at a 1% house edge and with maybe 60-70 hands an hour they'd be expecting to make about $60-70 an hour off you...

By comparison, a slot player playing $1 per spin with a 10% house edge and going through 600-700 spins per hour and the casino is expecting to make about $60-70 an hour off them...

And then with slots its pretty easy to bet more than a dollar a spin and still get some good play out of your money and as said, slot players also tend to play for longer stretches of time (not saying ALL slot players do, but lots of slot players would have no problem playing 10-12+ hours a day)

    I think your title should have said;
How to get the most MLIFE tier points playing BJ

Other than playing more, it is often worth asking the pit boss how you were rated. Many say this is the way to make sure you get what is coming to you.

The cheapest way to earn tier credits in terms of theo is playing full pay video poker. You'll earn about 7x as many for the same theo you generate on table games. I made platinum in one short trip at the beginning of the year largely due to VP, even though I probably played more hours of BJ.

Of course, it can cost you several thousand which I think you know. But if winning the bet is really that important this is the way I would do it. That's assuming you like VP and know optimal strategy.

Quickest way is to find out how many TC's you need to make plat. Then, go to a jewelry store in one of the mgm properties and buy yourself a nice watch. Instant platinum! If you later decide you don't like the watch, sell it!

The last few times I've booked a $35 room at Luxor and have been upgraded to a suite for free so I'm not really generating credits there. As for food, I never seem to eat more than once a day when I'm in Vegas. If I do, it's in the poke room and it's comped.

As for playing VP, I've done it, but have no idea what I'm doing.

I'll just start upping my betting units I guess. I'm not interested in learning video poker.

Thank you for all of the comments.

I assume you mean that you're not generating credits because you're not paying for a more expensive room. You earn TC at the same rate at every MGM vegas property. Ultimately, if this inquiry is all related to a dollar bet between you and a friend, I'm a bit skeptical of this whole thread. But if winning that buck (and I guess whatever pride comes with it) is important to you, just go to the logo shop at one of the properties and buy $8000 worth of stuff. Boom. You'll get tier credits and win your dollar wager in sixty seconds (or however long it takes the cash register to ring up all your new Bellagio sweatshirts). Or if you don't want shirts, then pay out of pocket for a pimping suite at Aria or Bellagio for a few days. Spend $8k on your room and you'll win that buck

Yes, I mean since I am not paying for an expensive room I'm not generating tc.

Read the entire thread. I've already stated that most casino cards are like having a local grocery rewards card.
